This should not only start the race but also send one of the AI cars flying ahead, which is actually a good thing since the AI can be a bit wonky and might get stuck. Your main focus during the race is to keep your speed up and smash into any rival racers or vehicles that get in your way. Just follow the checkpoints, and you should take the win.

Side-Mission: I Scream, You Scream

For this mission, you'll start by heading to Harwood to grab a briefcase with a bomb from Borgnine Taxis. Once you have it, find the Mr. Whoopee ice cream van – it'll be marked on your radar. Jack the van and drive it over to Atlantic Quays. Park in the blue marker and start the ice cream jingle by pressing L3. Now, get a good distance away but stay where you can see the van. When the gang gets close, use your detonator to blow them up.

Side-Mission: Trial by Fire

After starting this mission, grab a car and head straight for Chinatown. Near the China Building, you'll find a Flamethrower. Picking it up gives you infinite ammo and a strict 2 minutes and 30 seconds to take out twenty-five Triads – think of it like a Rampage mission. To make things easier, drive your car into the park located near the Old School Hall in Chinatown. This area usually spawns enough Triads to get your fiery rampage going.

Side-Mission: Big N Veiny

Once this mission begins, hop into the nearby van. You'll follow a rather... explicit path. You start with twenty seconds on the clock, and you gain one extra second for every pile of magazines you collect along the way. Keep following the path, and you'll eventually reach Portland Harbor. There, you need to smash into the thief to end his pursuit. After that, head over to XXX Mags in the Red Light District to complete the mission.
