Learn how to navigate the world of Granblue Fantasy: Relink, from understanding the field screen and movement controls to utilizing towns like Folca and Seedhollow for services and quests.

This guide covers how to get around in Granblue Fantasy: Relink, including understanding the Field Screen, character movement, town services, item collection methods, Hallowed Ground, and the map overlay.

Field Screen

The Field Screen provides crucial information:

  • Character Information: Displays details about your current character.
  • Compass: Tracks your direction towards objectives and points of interest.
  • Current Objectives: Lists your active mission goals.
  • Objective Marker: Shows the direction and distance to your current objective.
  • Pop-up Notices: Alerts you to newly acquired items and other important events.
  • Party Comments/Dialogue: Displays ongoing conversations or remarks from your party members.

Movement

You can freely move your player character using the left analog stick. Press or hold the dash button (usually R1) to dash while moving. The jump button (usually X) may be necessary to navigate certain field areas.

To change the character you control, open the Party Menu and swap the character in the first slot (far left) with another playable character. This character will then be the one you control in battle.

Note that you cannot change your controlled character once a battle has begun or after a Quest has started.

Towns

Two primary towns serve as your support hubs: Folca (an early-game base) and Seedhollow (a larger city visited mid-story). These towns offer essential services:

  • Quest Counter: Accept new Quests.
  • Blacksmith: Forge and upgrade weapons.
  • Knickknack Shack: Trade for materials and sigils.
  • Airship Docks: Board the Grandcypher to continue your adventure.

You can also undertake Side Quests for citizens. Pressing the interact button (usually Circle) aboard the airship or in the field allows you to Return to Town. Be aware that returning to town may result in losing unsaved progress. From town, board the airship at the docks to resume your adventure.

Collecting Items

Various methods exist for gathering resources:

  • Treasure Chests: Contain materials, equipment, and money. Some require keys, and Shrouded Chests hold valuable items.
  • Collection Points: Examine glowing points to find materials for upgrades or trade.
  • Destructible Objects: Break barrels, crates, ice crystals, etc., in the field for money or materials.
  • Wee Pincers: Find and deliver these tiny crabs to an NPC.
  • Slimes: Attack urns to find Slimes that drop money when defeated.
  • Archives: Find glowing purple collection points to gather Lyria's Archive Notes.

Hallowed Ground

Encountering Hallowed Ground crystals in the field allows you to press the interact button (usually Circle) to restore HP, restock potions, and save your game.

Map Overlay

Long-pressing the map button (usually Touchpad) in town or the field brings up an overlay map. It closes automatically if you take battle action, though this can be changed in the System menu's Gameplay settings. Press the map button again to dismiss it.
