Wood is a fundamental resource in Fields of Mistria, essential for crafting a vast array of items, from basic farm equipment and furniture to building repairs and decorations. The primary source of wood is trees, which can be found throughout the game world. Different types of wood may exist, each potentially having unique properties or being required for specific recipes. The most common type of wood is simply referred to as 'Wood', which can be obtained by chopping down standard trees found on your farm and in surrounding areas like the Whispering Woods.

To harvest wood, you will need an axe. The Basic Axe is available early in the game, and as you progress, you can craft or acquire better axes, such as the Copper Axe or Steel Axe, which allow you to chop down trees faster and potentially access larger or rarer trees. The frequency of trees respawning on your farm can be influenced by the time of year and potentially by certain farm upgrades or town restoration efforts. Beyond your farm, areas like the Forest Path and the outskirts of town are also good locations to gather Wood.

As you delve deeper into the game, particularly into the Mines, you might encounter different types of wood or wood-like materials. For instance, the v0.15.0 update, which expanded the Mines to include the Ruins, may introduce new environmental elements that yield unique crafting materials. It's always advisable to keep a stock of Wood, as it's a recurring requirement for many crafting recipes, including the Sturdy Workbench and various furniture items. Pay attention to the materials list for any item you wish to craft; if it requires wood, ensure you have a sufficient quantity readily available.
