Description:
Easy Mode is the easiest difficulty setting in Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake. Beginners can play through the entire game using this mode. Enemies deal significantly less damage compared to your vitality. Camera shots inflict strong damage on enemies, even when using the weakest film (Type-7 Films).
- Each Herbal Medicine heals 2/3 of your lifebar in this mode.
- This mode is generally considered a piece of cake.
- You do not have to start the game on this mode if you do not wish to.
NORMAL MODE
Learn about Normal Mode in Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake. Enemies deal up to 1/4 lifebar damage, and Herbal Medicine heals over half.
Normal mode is available from the start of Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake. While harder than Easy mode, it is still manageable for beginners. Enemies deal slightly more damage and have more vitality, but can be overcome with Type-7 and Type-14 Films if you are a skilled player, with the exception of bosses in the Final Stage. The maximum damage enemies can inflict in this mode is 1/4 of your lifebar (health bar). A Herbal Medicine (a healing item) restores a little more than 1/2 of your lifebar.
Choosing Normal mode for your first playthrough is recommended because you will receive more rewards after completing the game, which can satisfy your curiosity about its other secrets.
- Normal mode offers more post-game rewards, encouraging exploration of the game's secrets.
- Enemies in Normal mode deal a maximum of 1/4 of your lifebar in damage per hit.
- Herbal Medicine heals more than half of your lifebar in Normal mode.
- Type-7 and Type-14 Films are effective against most enemies in Normal mode.
HARD MODE
Unlock HARD MODE in Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake by beating the game on Normal. Learn about reduced damage and tougher ghosts.
Description:
This difficulty setting begins to be tough. You can use Type-7 Films (a type of photographic film for your Camera Obscura) against very few ghosts in the first encounter, but later Type-14 Films and Type-61 Films will become your elite weapons. The damage you cause on the enemies remains half compared to Normal mode. Most of enemies' hits can now take out half of your lifebar (health bar), which means two hits from them can kill you. Herbal Medicine's effect is reduced a little.
- Master Normal mode without too many hardships, as this will make progressing through HARD MODE less of a problem.
- Prioritize acquiring and effectively using Type-14 and Type-61 Films for combat.
- Be aware that enemy attacks are significantly more damaging, often depleting half your health bar per hit.
