Learn how to clear Ambush Camps in Days Gone, including locations, rewards, and stealthy approaches for Cascade and Belknap regions.

Cascade Region Ambush Camps:

There are three Ambush Camps in the Copeland's Cascade region. Liberated Ambush Camps provide a fast travel station and the map in the bunkers located at all camps will reveal the details of the surrounding area, including Infestation nest sites, NERO Checkpoints and Research Sites. Craft Recipes are frequently rewarded for liberating these camps. You'll likely be operating with early-game weapons, making a stealthy approach prudent.

Cascade Radio Tower Ambush Camp: This Ambush Camp is embedded in the main mission, No Starving Patriots detailed in Section 2: He Can't Be Far.

Horse Creek Ambush Camp: This camp is located about 650 meters southeast of the O'Leary Mountain Safehouse; this is southeast of the High Desert Logging Co. Infestation site, which is detailed in the mission, Clear Out Those Nests in Section 4: Price On Your Head. Fourteen Drifters defend the remote mountainside camp and it is easy to be detected and targeted by a sniper if you approach from the southwest, so try to approach from the north. Park at the "Nature Trail" bridge and begin a stealthy advance up the grade.

Early-game weapons make clearing the camp without detection difficult, since they have both the numbers and the high ground; but operating patiently and stealthily will make the task more doable. Look for the patroller whose route takes him onto the left overlook and for the sniper on the overlook on the right side as you advance toward the camp. Start the assault by putting them down. Advance up the grade, use the scattered brush clumps for (cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects)) and silently kill as many in the multi-level camp as possible as you make a clockwise circuit around the lower area, going past the tower. Be aware of the hostiles that patrol on the overlook. Toss stones to lure hostiles into kill zones and be patient as you thin out the enemy's numbers.

The hatch for the bunker is under the metal utility tower. The map will reveal the individual locations of the six nests at the High Desert Logging Co. facility to the northwest. There are a couple of gas cans at the site-one near the bunker's hatch.

Storyline. Ambush Camp Hunter. Rewards: 1,500 XP, 800 trust, 550 credits.

Jefferson Rail Tunnel Ambush Camp: This camp is located in the far north central part of the Cascade region; this is about 930 meters north of Copeland's Camp. This is also about 400 meters north northeast of the Horse Lake NERO Checkpoint (an auto-save point you restart from on death). The camp has a single approach from the southwest, so a stealthy approach can easily be spoiled, especially if the Freaks in the area aren't silently disposed of. Be aware that a sniper ambush is also occasionally set up near the camp. The lack of punch of the early-game weapons make taking this camp a challenging task, so take suppressors and the crossbow to operate stealthily.

Fourteen Marauders defend the elevated camp. As you advance, be aware of the tripwires and the bear traps on the left approach and of the sentries that patrol onto the left and right side overlooks. Stay back to put them down to remain undetected and note the sentry on the overlook deeper in on the right side. Move through the brush and use the available (cover) to stealth kill as many of the defenders as possible. Be aware of the tripwires and bear traps and you can kill most or all of the garrison without being detected. Be aware that one of the Marauders will have body armor. He will usually hang out near the shack on the upper level on the northeast side of the large camp.

The hatch for the bunker is located on the upper level on the northeast side behind the shack. The map reveals a pair of Research Sites, the individual nest locations of the Old Pioneer Cemetery Infestation and the Old Pioneer NERO Checkpoint.

Storyline: Ambush Camp Hunter. Rewards: 1,500 XP, 800 trust, 550 credits.

Belknap Region Ambush Camps:

There are three Ambush Camps in the Belknap region.

Bear Creek Ambush Camp: This camp is located in the far north central area of the Belknap region. This is about midway between the abandoned NERO camp with Sarah's memorial stone and the town of Marion Forks to the east. Driving past it on the main road will reveal the camp's location.

Park about 125 meters east of the camp near the road and eliminate any Freaks in the area before taking the dirt path north on the high ground. Scout the camp, which has fifteen Marauders, from gaps in the rock wall and silently down the sniper on the overlook below. Tag any visible hostiles and kill anyone within range without alerting the others. Continue up the grade and crawl under the log and beware of the hanging Freak that is still alive. Follow the prompt to dispatch it before moving into the outskirts of the upper camp. You can alternately shoot the last Freak who is hanging head-down rather than allowing it to attack.

If you're packing the crossbow with Nocked Up, stay just outside the cave to tag and snipe the visible Marauders. Be aware of the Marauder in the upper story of the building as you move to the central rock formation after clearing about six or more hostiles in the upper area. You should be able to kill him through the window-it will take two bolts with the improved crossbow or you can enter the structure for a takedown. There will be several in the lower areas of the camp unless they were drawn into a firefight in the upper camp.
