Navigating the chaotic battlefields of Chivalry: Medieval Warfare begins with finding the right server. The Server Browser is your primary tool for locating and joining games that suit your preferences. Understanding its features and filters will significantly improve your online experience.

Accessing the Server Browser

From the main menu, select the "Multiplayer" option. This will present you with two choices: "Quick Play" and "Server Browser." While "Quick Play" offers a fast way to jump into a game, it often places you in less-than-ideal servers. For a more tailored experience, always opt for the "Server Browser."

Understanding the Server List

Upon entering the Server Browser, you'll be presented with a comprehensive list of active servers. Each entry provides crucial information to help you make an informed decision:

• Server Name: Often indicates the server's region, game mode, or community. Look for familiar names or those that suggest a good connection.
• Players: Shows the current player count (e.g., 24/32). Aim for servers with a healthy player count but not necessarily full, as joining a full server can lead to queue times.
• Ping: This is arguably the most critical metric. Ping measures the latency between your computer and the server. Lower ping (e.g., 20-60ms) means a smoother, more responsive gameplay experience. High ping (e.g., 150ms+) will result in noticeable lag and a significant disadvantage in combat.
• Map: Displays the map currently being played on the server. Useful if you have a favorite map or want to avoid a specific one.
• Game Mode: Indicates the game type (e.g., Team Objective, Free For All, Team Deathmatch).
• Password: A padlock icon signifies a password-protected server, usually for private matches or clan events.

Filtering and Sorting Servers

To efficiently find the perfect server, utilize the filtering and sorting options available at the top of the Server Browser window:

Filters:

• Game Mode: Click this dropdown to select specific game modes you wish to play (e.g., "Team Objective" for objective-based combat, "Free For All" for pure deathmatch).
• Map: If you have a particular map in mind, you can filter by map name. This is especially useful for practicing specific strategies or enjoying your favorite battlegrounds.
• Ping: Use the ping filter to set a maximum acceptable ping. We highly recommend setting this to 100ms or lower for optimal performance.
• Full Servers: Toggle this option to hide servers that are currently full. This prevents you from repeatedly attempting to join servers with no available slots.
• Empty Servers: Toggle this to hide servers with no players. While tempting to join an empty server to practice, you'll likely be waiting a long time for it to fill.
• Password Protected: Toggle this to hide or show servers that require a password.

Sorting:

Click on the column headers (e.g., "Ping," "Players," "Server Name") to sort the server list in ascending or descending order. Sorting by "Ping" is often the most effective way to find servers with the best connection.

Joining a Game

1. Select a Server: Browse the filtered and sorted list. Prioritize servers with low ping and a suitable player count for your preferred game mode.
2. Click "Join": Once you've identified a server, click on its entry in the list, then click the "Join" button located at the bottom right of the Server Browser window.
3. Loading Screen: The game will then load the selected map. This may take a moment depending on your system and internet speed.
4. Team Selection: Upon loading, you'll be prompted to choose a team (Agatha Knights or Mason Order) or be automatically assigned. Consider which team needs more players or which faction you prefer to fight for.
5. Class Selection: After team selection, you'll enter the class selection screen. Choose your preferred class and weapon loadout, then click "Spawn" to enter the fray!

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

• High Ping: If all servers show high ping, check your internet connection. Restarting your router can sometimes resolve this. Ensure no other applications are hogging bandwidth.
• "Server Full" Message: If you repeatedly get this message, ensure your "Full Servers" filter is active or try joining a server with a few open slots.
• "Connection Failed": This can be due to server instability, a temporary network issue on your end, or the server being password protected when you didn't realize. Try joining a different server or restarting your game.
