The Stielhangranate, often called a "stick grenade" or "potato masher" by Allied soldiers, is a fragmentation grenade effective against infantry and entrenched positions. While not designed for armored vehicles, it could immobilize tanks with a lucky explosion. Its time fuse is activated by unscrewing the bottom and pulling the "rip detonator" safety cord.

Historical Information:
The Stielhandgranate 24 weighed 480g, had an overall length of 35.6cm, and its warhead contained 165g of explosives. The cylindrical warhead could also be used as a mine (Handgranate 43) or combined with a Stielhandgranate 24 to create a "Geballte Ladung" (forceful/big charge), an improvised anti-tank weapon resembling a flower. Later, "shrapnel rings" could be attached to the warhead to increase fragmentation, a technique copied from Russian RGD 33 grenades.
A total of 81 million Stielhandgranate 42 and Handgranate 43 units were produced.
