The Kar98k is the standard issue German infantry rifle, known for its accuracy and high damage at long range. Historically, the Kar98k, or Karabiner 98 kurz, was a shortened version of the Gewehr 98 introduced in 1935. It served as the standard German military rifle for over 50 years. This bolt-action rifle featured an internal magazine holding 5 rounds and could be fitted with a bayonet or rifle grenades. Specialized scoped versions, such as those with Zf 40, Zf 41, Zf 39, or Zf 4 scopes offering up to 4x zoom, were produced for designated marksmen. Approximately 6% of the production were intended to be sniper variants, though this target was not fully met. The sights on regular rifles could be adjusted from 100m to 2000m. The German army entered World War II with over 2.7 million Kar98k rifles, with millions more delivered throughout the war, including sniper modifications. The regular price for one rifle was 70 RM.
