Alright, so you've made it to the main laboratory area, but uh oh – looks like an earthquake decided to redecorate. The stairs leading up are completely busted! Don't worry, this is a common spot to get stuck, but there are a few ways to get past it. Let's figure this out.

Walkthrough: Broken Stairs Solutions

You're in the main laboratory room, and the stairs you need to climb are now a pile of rubble. The good news is, the game gives you a few options to improvise a way up.

1. Solution 1: The Makeshift Plank

   First off, look to the left of the broken stairs. You'll see a wall with some rocks. Near these rocks, there are two wooden floor pieces lying around. Grab one of these wooden pieces. You'll want to place it near the torch, specifically in the area that doesn't have railings above it. Once you position it correctly, it should automatically snap into place, creating a sort of ramp or bridge. Now, when you get close to it, you should see a ladder icon appear. Left-click to enter 'climbing mode,' and then just move forward. You'll automatically climb up to the higher level.

2. Solution 2: The Direct Stair Repair

   This is pretty similar to the first solution. Again, find a wooden floor piece near the rocks on the wall. This time, instead of placing it by the torch, drag it over to the actual broken part of the stairs. It'll attach itself, and you should be able to climb up normally, just like you would on intact stairs.

3. Solution 3: The Barrel and Box Stack

   If you didn't notice the wooden planks, or just want to try something different, there's another way. Head to the corner of the room where you'll find some barrels. Grab one of these barrels and place it in front of the ground where the stairs broke. Now, find a box and place it on top of the barrel you just positioned. You'll need to jump onto the broken part of the stairs first, then jump onto the box that's sitting on the barrel. From there, you can make a final jump forward to reach the higher, still-broken section of the stairs. Once you're up there, you can proceed as usual.

Once you've successfully navigated the broken stairs using one of these methods, you'll be back on the higher level. Your next objective is to find your way out of this laboratory and head back towards the Entrance Hall.
