Detailed walkthrough for escaping your cell and the surrounding area in Amnesia: The Dark Descent, including item locations and puzzle solutions.

As consciousness returns, Alexander speaks telepathically, expressing concern and noting similarities between himself and Daniel, both driven by a desire to survive the shadow at any cost.

Cell Escape Solution 1:

1. Look to the corner on your right and grab the oil bottle.
2. Examine the bars on the right side; a broken bar is present. Grab it and move your mouse to break it off, then pick up the fallen Iron Bar.
3. Turn to the wall on your right and pull the bare wooden bed in front of the hole you created.
4. Jump towards the hole, crouching in mid-air to fit through. The wall breaks down.

Cell Escape Solution 2:

1. Upon regaining consciousness, look at the iron bars in front of you. Grab the broken bar and move your mouse to make it fall, then take the Iron Bar.
2. Turn left and move to the corner of the wall. Locate a loose section of the wall (cursor will change to a hand).
3. Open your inventory and use the Iron Bar on the loose wall section.
4. Grab the Iron Bar again and move your mouse to the right to break the wall, dislodging bricks.
5. Look through the hole and grab the piece of wood. Push it forward to collapse a larger section of the wall.
6. Push aside the blocking bricks to enter the next cell.

Main Escape Solution 1:

1. After leaving your cell, turn left and proceed. Ignore the first empty cell on your left.
2. Enter the next cell on the left. Find a bottle of oil behind the overturned bed; pull the bed to retrieve it. Read the note on the floor from a despairing prisoner mentioning a key in nearby pipes.
3. Exit this cell and continue along the left side. Enter the broken cell; the screen will turn black temporarily.
4. When visibility returns, find a tinderbox in the right corner and another near rocks on the left, next to a dead body on the bed.
5. Exit this cell and enter the last cell on the left. Find a tinderbox behind a fallen chair and Laudanum under the bare wooden bed. Grab the Wooden Bucket and exit.
6. Go to the central well. Turn the crank to raise the rope. Use the Wooden Bucket on the rope, then turn the crank again to lower it. Raise the bucket again to get a Bucket of Water.
7. Facing the crank, turn right. Near a torch is a broken pipe. Use the Bucket of Water on the pipe to wash the key down. Grab the Rusty Key.

Main Escape Solution 2:

1. After leaving your cell and visiting other cells for supplies and notes, proceed to the broken pipes in the corner with a small table.
2. Open your inventory and use the Iron Bar on the broken pipe to push the key out. Grab the Rusty Key.

Exiting the Area:

1. Use the Rusty Key on the door. Open it and immediately run, shutting it behind you.
2. Continue running and shutting doors. If a door is blocked by debris, move the rocks and wood to open it.
3. When faced with a choice between running left or right, choose the left path. (Note: This choice might be randomized; the lit torch path may be open if the left is blocked).
4. Continue running until you reach an area with water. This section is a straight run.
5. Run up the stairs and open the door to return to the Nave.
