Follow Kiryu's escape from the Millennium Tower, track down Kanda through Kamurocho, and face him in a boss fight. Learn about Rikiya and unlock new Substories.

As everyone leaves the Millennium Tower, Kiryu tries to blend into the crowd. Difficult to do when you're stained with blood. Kiryu bolts from the cops. You'll have to take over to evade the police. The game will show you the route to take: around Millennium Tower, cutting down Tenkaichi, then across Nakamichi and Pink St. to Senryo Ave. It's a tough dash, and you'll have to hop over trash cans several times. If you get nabbed, mash X to escape so you don't get hauled off by the police.

Once you reach the Champion District, you'll run into Date, who will lead out to a safe place. Stick with Date as you both head there. Run when he runs. Walk when he walks. Once you reach your destination, you'll realize it's Kiryu's old haunt, Serena, all fixed up after the events of a few years past. Kiryu, his suit now miraculously clean, will be safe here. After taking a short load off, a young man shows up and delivers Date some info. Turns out, Date is no longer working for the Tokyo PD. He now works for a newspaper. He brings along info on all the Tojo Clan leaders. Go through each in turn to get up to speed on them. The plan now is for Date to dig up any info he can on the mystery man in the sketch, while Kiryu tracks down the man most likely to be the one to have ordered Kashiwagi's death, Kanda.

You now have New Serena to use as a hideout. As you leave, Rikiya will give you a buzz. Apparently, he followed you here and is a little miffed you ditched him. Of course, he's unsure as to where he is, so meeting up is going to be tough. He says he's around a bunch of shops and can see a huge tower, so that's likely Nakamichi St.

Now, another twelve Substories have opened up. There's no need to worry about accidentally running into Rikiya, and even if you do, you'll have time later in the chapter to clean up if you wish. Also, another single Locker Key (the one in New Serena) is available.

Once you're ready to find Rikiya, go to Nakamichi St. and he'll be nowhere to be found. He'll text you that he's at a convenience store. The convenience store you want to pick is the M Store on Shichifuku, but even if you don't, you'll get there anyway. Once you get to the M Store, you'll get a call that he went to a park to help a lady out with some thugs. As you leave, you'll get a text from Mack about another Revelation, which you can get now or later. Regardless, head to Children's Park and you'll find some Nishikiyama thugs kidnapping women for Kanda. Beat them to a pulp and they'll sing like canaries. Apparently Kanda is in the Red Brick Hotel, Room 403, in the Hotel District.

You're going to go through another gauntlet, so get whatever healing and weapons you want and make a beeline for the hotel. You'll get to Kanda's room (after a fashion), but he bolts. As you head down the hall, you'll beat up four guys. Once they're down, Rikiya goes downstairs and Kiryu goes upstairs. As the game informs you, check the rooms with a light above them. Also, don't forget to grab the Toughness ZZ in the hallway on the fifth floor. Both doors on this level are duds. Go up to the sixth floor and you'll find him in Room 603. He'll run off again and go downstairs this time. Defeat all the bad guys on the way back, including the fat guy blocking the stairs. Go down to the fifth floor, then the fourth floor. Kanda is in Room 406, straight down the hall on the right. He'll take off again and run upstairs. Head all the way up to the 7th floor and go to Room 704 to find Kanda. He'll head to the back stairs and up to the top. Follow him.

You'll now face Kanda in a boss fight and his tattoo of the Tennyo and Okame masks. If you trained with Komaki and got the Tiger Drop, now's a great time to practice it. Kanda's slaps and tosses are tough to deal with initially. Oddly enough, when he gets hurt a bit and yanks the big discs off the wall, he becomes a bit easier to Tiger Drop because his windup is so big. Once you get his health low enough, you'll engage in some really goofy Heat Actions to finish it off.

Kiryu starts interrogating Kanda, but it turns out he doesn't know anything about Kashiwagi's death. He names Hamazaki as the likely culprit, considering he's consolidating his power in Yokohama, before Kiryu decks him.

Mack e-mails you with another Revelation and Rikiya is famished after that fight. Since this is his first time in Kamurocho, it might be nice to show him around.

Now, pay attention, because making Rikiya super happy can get you a really awesome item. After you finish your meal, you can totally ditch him, but trust me, this is worth it. For one, you can complete two Substories that can only be done with Rikiya. So, let's take everything by the numbers. Observe:

Rikiya Tourism -
  • Take Rikiya to Kanrai and tell him "It's my treat". Choose to continue exploring.
  • At any time while Rikiya's with you, go to the tattoo artist in Pink Alley. It's in the alley west of Karaokekan and is one of Rikiya's substories.
  • Head down to Don Quijote. Rikiya will buy stuff. Next, go north to the coin lockers so he can drop his stuff off.
  • Choose to continue exploring. Rikiya will want to go to the roof of Millennium Tower, but it's closed. Instead, go to Public Park No. 3 on Tenkaichi Alley.
  • When Rikiya asks about Kashiwagi, tell him that he was "Great at leading from the shadows", then tell him "How level headed he was" (that said he does love cold noodles).
  • Rikiya will give you a Zero Jewel.

So back to normal life. A few more Substories have become available. Make sure you check the section to see which ones will only appear after Kanda is defeated. By the end of this chapter, you can have a total of 83 Substories completed with 3 others begun.

The next story beat is back at New Serena, but before you can enter, you'll get caught up with a guy named Ibuki behind the building. Once you get him back to his place at Kamuro Castle, he'll introduce himself as the leader of the "Honest Living Association", whic
