Navigate the intense Part 30 of XCOM: Enemy Within! Learn strategies for the alien battleship, tough reinforcements, and crucial engine node objectives to secure victory.

Alright, Commander, welcome to Part 30! This section is all about tackling that alien battleship and dealing with some seriously nasty reinforcements. We'll break down the key areas and threats so you can come out on top.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
You'll start in a room where reinforcements will be triggered. Be ready for either Thin Men or Chryssalids to drop in. MECs are great for handling Chryssalids if they show up.
  2. 2
At the far end of this initial room, you'll spot large guard tower-like structures and another engine node. Here, I encountered a Thin Man as reinforcement along with Sectoid squads guarding the node.
  3. 3
Moving further ahead, you'll reach a large room with two doors, each leading to a long corridor that connects in the center. Each corridor has an engine node at its far end.
  4. 4
This next section is arguably the most dangerous. The door on the far right end of this large room hides a Cyberdisks. As soon as you approach the engine node on the right side of the room, it'll activate and move through the door. Be prepared for it to shoot on its first turn, as you likely won't expect an attack so soon. Mutons are likely to be guarding this room, and Thin Men could be reinforcements.
  5. 5
After you've dealt with all the enemies in this room and disabled the engine node, you can advance to the final area. This is a wide-open space with two more engine nodes. Mutons are likely guarding this area, but if you managed to handle the Cyberdisks, you're in a good position.
  6. 6
Your final objective is to kill the remaining enemies and disable the engine nodes in this last room. Once that's done, the mission is complete!
Tips
  • MECs are incredibly useful for dealing with tough enemies like Chryssalids and powerful melee attackers. Their Kinetic Strike is a lifesaver.
  • Always be aware of potential reinforcements. Keep your squad positioned defensively when you're about to trigger a new area or objective.
  • The Cyberdisk hiding behind the door is a major threat. Scout ahead carefully or use abilities that can reveal enemies before you move into its line of sight.
  • Don't underestimate the Thin Men; their poison attacks can be devastating if left unchecked. Prioritize eliminating them quickly.
  • Once the mission is over, you'll be rewarded with Fusion Cores, which are fantastic for selling for cash, crafting powerful rocket launchers, or upgrading your aircraft armaments.

DLC Missions:

The source text also mentions a few DLC missions, which are worth noting:

  • Portent: This is a target extraction mission where you need to reach a survivor. Moving the VIP closer to the extraction point will trigger more reinforcements, so be cautious. You'll be fighting Thin Men exclusively here.
  • Deluge: This mission occurs after your base is attacked and Portent is completed. Your goal is to reach the other side of a collapsing dam. You can open valves to buy yourself more time. Expect Mechtoids, Mutons, and Thin Men.
  • Furies: This mission follows Deluge. You have 12 turns to secure or destroy the control room of an abductor-class UFO to save people in stasis tanks. Avoid destroying or using the stasis tanks as cover. Thin Men are the primary guards, but a Berserker will be airdropped later. Shivs and MECs are highly recommended.
  • Newfoundland: This is a Chryssalid-heavy mission where an infinite amount of them spawn. MECs with Kinetic Strike are very useful. You'll need to push a button on a control room to call an airstrike after dealing with the Chryssalids.
