Hacking Contract

Learn how to track down and take out a hacker in the Hacking Contract mission in Watch Dogs. Follow our guide to successfully complete this early-game challenge.

Alright, so Jordi's got a job for us, but when we get to the meeting spot, surprise! It's locked down because some dude's decided to hack us. We gotta find this hacker and put a stop to their shenanigans before we can move on.

First things first, head down the street. You know, the one under the L-train? Look for a purple search area on your map and make your way there.

As soon as you step into that purple zone, the hacker starts their thing, and you've got a ticking clock to find them. Don't sweat it too much, though – this is basically a tutorial. The hacker is pretty obvious, running around a stone plaza. Use your Profiler to spot them; they'll be highlighted in red. Once you've identified them, it's time for a chase!

Heads up: If you're too slow and they get away, the chase will turn into a vehicle pursuit, so try to catch them on foot if you can.

Once you've caught the hacker and dealt with them, the game will introduce you to the player-hacking tutorial. If you're not feeling the online action right now, you can totally play offline. Just remember, going offline means you'll miss out on those online missions.
