There are a total of 35 Dataslates in warhammer 40000 space marine 2: 23 are found within the game’s seven campaign missions, and another twelve are located in the six Operations mode missions. Campaign missions contain between two and four Dataslates each, while every Operations mode mission has exactly two.

Dataslates glow green until interacted with, making them relatively easy to spot if you search thoroughly. Most levels are not overly long, and extraneous areas are confined, so running along the perimeter of each level should help you find most of them. There is no time penalty for dawdling in campaign missions, but in Operations mode, enemy waves can spawn over time, increasing the danger; playing on the lowest difficulty can make searching safer.

Dataslates are typically found on tables, machinery, or the ground, often near corpses and usually along a wall or boundary, never in the open. They are not hidden in low visibility areas, timed segments, or areas with environmental hazards. They are also not found under boxes, so destroying environmental objects is not necessary.

The most challenging Dataslates to find are often those requiring the use of Jump Packs, where you may need to look up for ledges. Some are also located behind sealed doors that require interaction with an unmarked terminal, which are rare in the game.

Checking Dataslate Progress:

You can check your collected Dataslates by navigating to the “Dataslate Repository” within the “Battle Barge” menu. Each Dataslate is listed chronologically. A filled-in icon indicates you've found it, while a blank spot means it was missed. Once interacted with, a Dataslate is added to your collectibles regardless of mission completion. However, there are no mid-mission checkpoints to resume from after completing a mission, so missing a Dataslate near the end requires replaying everything up to that point. The final campaign mission, Bellum Sempiternus, cannot be replayed directly from the Battle Barge; you must play through Dawn’s Descent again to access it.
