Follow this guide to find Hawthorne's ship, ADA, and a power regulator in The Outer Worlds 2. Includes tips for combat and exploration.
Walkthrough
- 1After character creation and cutscenes, your escape pod lands. Head forward, jumping over a log (X) and crouching under a branch (Circle).
- 2Continue until you find a mutilated Marauder Thug. Sneak past canids using long grass and crouching.
- 3Enter the cave ahead. Leap down from a ledge, taking fall damage. Use the Medical Inhaler (L1) to heal. (Note: The 'Health Insurance' trophy is for using the inhaler 300 times).
- 4Inside the cave, find Guard Pelham. Heal him for XP. You can make a speech check to get a gun and ammo, and if healed, he'll give you a melee weapon.
- 5Practice drawing (Square tap), holstering (Square hold), and reloading (Square tap while holding weapon) your gun.
- 6Loot consumables behind and inside Pelham's tent. Shoot the barrels blocking the cave exit from a distance.
- 7As you exit, a Tactical Time Dilation tutorial will trigger. Use it on the two marauder enemies ahead. (Note: Aiming for the groin during TTD with human enemies unlocks the 'Poor Sportsmanship' trophy after 30 hits).
- 8Loot the marauders for improved armor and minor loot. Search their camp for consumables and Mag-Pick x 3. Open the locked crate for a Telescoping Staff.
- 9Continue down the slope, killing three more marauders. Loot their corpses and proceed towards your mission marker.
- 10Do not mistake Lieutenant Mercer and Private Kimball for enemies. Talk to Lieutenant Mercer. Mentioning Pelham may lead to a speech check for her to help clear the remaining four marauders.
- 11Approach the ship and climb aboard. Go right to find ADA, the ship's AI.
- 12Agree to pretend to be Captain Hawthorne. ADA reveals you need a replacement power regulator. Use the Engineering speech option for XP. You will reach level 2.
- 13Leave ADA's room and go through the opposite door to find the workbench. Gather loot: 15 Weapon Parts, a Sawed-Off Shotgun (break down for parts), and a Tossball Stick. A bed is available for sleeping (important for Supernova difficulty).
- 14Go upstairs. Most doors are sealed, but you can access the galley for provisions.
- 15Leave the ship. Lieutenant Mercer will attempt to fine you. Use a Lie option for XP and to avoid losing Reputation.
- 16Southeast of the Unreliable is Old Wreckage (discovery XP bonus), but avoid it for now due to tough primal enemies (especially on Supernova).
- 17Northeast of the ship is a large marauder camp with five humans and two Tamed Canids. Loot their camp for consumables, weapons, mods, and ammo. There's a level 15 locked container. Climb a ladder for more loot. (Note: Use the workbench on your ship to apply weapon mods. The 'Upgrades Available' trophy is for modifying 30 weapons).
- 18East of your ship is a smaller outpost with three enemies. Loot them and their camp.
- 19Head towards your quest marker. You'll encounter two resident corpses and three marauders in ambush.
- 20After defeating the ambushers, proceed to Edgewater. Talk to Silas, the Junior Inhumer, outside the main gate.
- 21Use a Lie option to claim you are Alex Hawthorne. Ask about a power regulator; Silas will direct you to Reed Tobson and offer a sidequest, 'A Small Grave Matter,' to collect grave fees. Agree to help.
- 22Cross the bridge past Silas, but do not enter the main gate directly.
