GOOD SIDE UNITS GUIDE: ROHAN UNITS

ROHAN PEASANTS

Rohan's basic foot infantry unit. They are relatively weak and primarily useful for repairing damaged gates and acting as meat shields for Yeoman Archers. The 'arm peasants' Evenstar power can buff them, but they remain largely ineffective. It is recommended to skip creating them as most buildings repair over time. The 'arming the peasant' upgrade increases their armor and damage, making them slightly sturdier, but Gondor soldiers are better for combat.

YEOMAN ARCHERS

Rohan's basic archer unit. They are not very strong but are useful for defending bases or attacking units susceptible to fire arrows. They are mostly useless until fully upgraded. Elves are preferred due to their versatility and superior stats, though they are more expensive. Archers are most effective when grouped together and focused on a single target.

ELVISH ARCHERS

Elvish units are encountered at Lothlórien for the first time but are not visible until Helm's Deep. They have superior range and damage compared to Yeoman Archers. Elvish warriors can switch to swords for melee combat but are not designed for prolonged close combat against Orcs.

ROHIRRIM (RIDERS OF ROHAN)

The Rohirrim are Rohan's primary cavalry unit. They are strong against most normal infantry and can trample over battalions of infantry. Trampling enemies costs health, and attempting to trample veteran or upgraded units can result in losing several units. Rohirrim are vulnerable to Troll attacks and pike units. Nazgûl can easily defeat them by picking up and dropping horsemen. Avoid pike units, as even a level 10 Rohirrim can be defeated by a level 1 Uruk pikeman or Rhûn warrior. Rohirrim and Rohirrim archers are useful for fast reaction, raiding enemy outposts, and defending bases. They are essential in Ancillary missions due to the game's small unit cap. Rohirrim in wedge formation have 125% damage with a 25% armor penalty; this formation is best used when led by a hero with an armor boost to negate the penalty. Theoden's 'glorious charge' amplifies the damage of this formation.

ROHIRRIM HORSE ARCHERS

Rohan horse archers complement the Rohirrim well. They are powerful and mobile, effective in groups of four. Upgrading them with fire arrows makes them effective counters to pike units, Mumakil, Trolls, and Nazgûl. They can outmaneuver slower units while attacking with arrows. They are also decent at taking down buildings. Horse archers can defeat pike units while the main cavalry army retreats, minimizing losses. Like Rohirrim, they are vulnerable to pike units and should be kept at a distance from them.

ENTS

Ents are slow, ancient living trees that deal significant damage to the Evil side. They are generally expensive and, in campaign mode, are exclusive units available through Evenstar powers, special situations, and the Isengard mission. Ents can throw rocks and building chunks in addition to their melee attacks, making them useful for destroying buildings from afar. They deal extra damage to lumber camps when enraged. Ents' weakness is their wooden composition, making them susceptible to fire. Fire arrows are particularly effective against them, and Orc laborers can chop them down quickly. Finding pools of water is crucial to extinguish flames, otherwise, the Ent will continuously lose health. If an Ent successfully puts out a fire, it becomes enraged and deals more damage for a short period. Ents do not level up in campaign mode. Rocks thrown by Ents can hit friend or foe, so keep other units clear of the target area.

GONDOR UNITS

GONDOR SOLDIERS

The basic foot unit of the Gondor Army. They are very cheap to produce and take minimal resources.
