Guide to Amon Hen and Rohan missions in The Lord of the Rings Online. Includes tips for Aragorn, Gandalf, Eomer, and unit upgrades.
Walkthrough
- 1Amon Hen (Fellowship): Start with Aragorn, Gandalf, Frodo, and Sam. Ensure the hobbits survive. Use Frodo and Sam's rock throwing to take out orcs. Have Aragorn defend one side and Gandalf the other.
- 2After the initial attacks, Gimli and Legolas may level up. Meet them with your initial heroes, but be prepared for two trolls. Use Gandalf's spells against the trolls and have Gimli and Legolas support once their orcs are cleared.
- 3In the second half, Boromir is surrounded by orcs, including Lurtz. Have Legolas target archer orcs, with hobbit support if they are not primary targets.
- 4When rescuing Boromir, use Aragorn's Elendil ability (if Level 5), Gandalf's spells, and Gimli's leap attack. Heal Boromir and use athelas if he is low on health, as Lurtz's special attack immobilizes him.
- 5Focus attacks on Lurtz to defeat him quickly (under 30 seconds).
- 6Gather the fellowship, heal injured members. Defend the ship from orcs and trolls. Use Gandalf or Legolas's hawk strike against trolls. Ensure hobbits do not die.
- 7Move Frodo and Sam to the boat once all enemies are defeated to end the mission.
- 8Eastern Rohan (Eomer): Begin with surviving units from the previous mission and a pre-set camp. Build 3 farms and an archery range. Building a well is recommended due to incoming orc attacks.
- 9Option 1 (Rush): Use intact units to attack orc positions and win in under 10 minutes. This will forgo powerful unit upgrades like fire arrows.
- 10Option 2 (Upgrades): Aim to max out unit cap (around 170). Sacrifice units to free up 20-30 command points. Build an archery range and produce sacrificial archers to scout and intentionally die, allowing continuous archer production until the archery range reaches level 2. Aim for five archer battalions before building upgrades.
- 11After acquiring fire arrows, ideally have at least 4 Rohirrims, 4 archer battalions, and 2 Yeoman Archer units (totaling 190 units if following the guide).
- 12Queue productions at stables or archery ranges to maintain unit count. Injured units brought to a well can allow for more units than the command point limit.
- 13Once the army is ready, clear the map slowly. Rebuilding destroyed enemy buildings can draw AI attacks, providing time to defend your base. Use this to level up units and Eomer.
- 14Be cautious of pikemen orcs, which can decimate Rohirrims and Eomer. Use horse archers to engage pikemen from a distance, micromanaging them to avoid dangerous areas.
- 15Before finishing the last building, ensure all units have important upgrades and are at least Rank 2.
- 16East Emneth (Eomer): Similar to previous Eomer missions; clear the area, level up units, and avoid losing battalions. Build and rebuild where possible. Build wells on outposts for army healing.
- 17Bonus Mission: Clear Warg Rider patrols. Leave one enemy building intact and explore the map. Returning may trigger rebuilding, providing more experience for units.
- 18Eaves of Fangorn (Eomer): Start with 2 squads of Rohirrims and 2 horse archers. Group them by type and destroy the nearby outpost. Build the outpost and a well for unit replenishment until Eomer arrives.
- 19Rescue the ents to attack orc formations. Orcs at this point do not have fire arrows.
Tips
- In Amon Hen, use Gandalf's spells for crowd control against trolls and large groups of orcs.
- For Eastern Rohan, sacrificing units to scout and gain intel on enemy positions is key for upgrade acquisition.
- Utilize the well mechanic in Eastern Rohan to exceed your command point limit with queued unit production.
- In East Emneth, using the bonus mission to farm experience points by allowing enemy bases to rebuild is an effective leveling strategy.
- In Eaves of Fangorn, use the ents to disrupt orc formations early in the mission.
