Let melee fighters gain levels while Legolas stays back; he excels at picking off goblins during the stairs section.

Balrog Fight: Guide Gandalf and ensure he doesn't take damage while casting his spell. Click the spell on Gandalf himself so he casts it as the Balrog approaches, absorbing damage. Have Gandalf run while recharging. Use the heal ability if punished. After 5 lightning sword attacks, the Balrog is defeated.

Level up Eomer and have Rohirrims join him for backup. Heal Rohirrims during quiet moments.

Unit Groupings: #1 Eomer, #2 Rohirrims (include Theoden later), #3 Rohirrim Archers (include Eowyn), #4 Archer battalions (include Elves), #5 Flexible.

Build four Rohirrims from the stable and level them up.

Send rescued peasants to their death to free up command points.

Auto-Set Skills: Aragorn's blademaster, Boromir's horn, Gimli's axe throw.

Have Aragorn advance with the fellowship supporting. Clear the Lumber camp on the left before the bridge for bonus resources.

Enter Lothlorien, build a barracks, and train elves. Send hobbits to the top-right lumber camp and Gandalf to the center-top lumber camp.

Merge knife-wielding elves to protect archer elves. Guard the northwest bridge from siege with archers and heroes.

Gimli should leap into combat and handle trolls once leveled up. Boromir's horn deals with goblins and orcs. Aragorn can heal. Legolas's hawk strike can also deal with trolls.

Keep hobbits gathering resources or fighting, but avoid Frodo's death.

Defend the northwest and western bridges from waves of attack using heroes to thin enemies, elves for fire support, and meat shields for trolls. Elves are expendable.

Explore and build farms. Use Rohirrims to defend farms from orc attacks.

Build three Rohirrim archers and upgrade your four Rohirrims with heavy armors, forged blades, and banner upgrades.

Build two archer battalions and give them all upgrades, including fire upgrades.
