Navigate Faron Woods in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD! Find Machi, Lopsa, Erla, and Oolo to help Elder Bucha and get the Slingshot.

Alright, so you've just landed in Faron Woods. Fi will give you the rundown, but the first thing you should do is head forward and use that Bird Statue to save your game. You know, just in case!

Follow the path, and you'll see a hanging vine. Give it a good dash jump to grab on and swing across to the other side. Once you land, chop down those trees in front of you. Keep going, and you'll find a couple of Bokoblins hassling a plant creature. Take 'em out, then chat with the little guy. He's a bit scared of you, naturally, and will run up a nearby hill. Dash up after him into a mushroom-filled area. There's another Bird Statue here on the right – save again! Now, you need to find that creature again. It's hiding behind the mushrooms, so just roll into the mushroom it's hiding behind to spook it and make it run off. You'll have to do this twice.

After you've done that, talk to the creature under the tree. Surprise! It's a Kikwi named Machi. Once you're done chatting, push the nearby log off the ledge. This creates a handy shortcut back to the entrance area. Grab the Amber Relic nearby, then head back towards the Bird Statue. You'll see a steep slope with a Deku Baba chilling in the middle. Dash up the slope and toss a boulder down to take it out. Continue along the path and deal with the Bokoblins you run into. There's also a Deku Scrub here – you can defeat it by using a shield bash to send its projectile right back at it!

Keep following the path, and you'll spot a log on the right side. Push it down to reveal another shortcut, this time to the mushroom area. Grab another Amber Relic, then continue along the spiraling path ahead. Chop down any trees blocking your way and take out any Deku Scrubs if you feel like it. At the edge of the path, cut the rope loose and dash jump to it. Swing across to the other side, where you'll meet the giant Kikwi Elder, Bucha. He'll tell you that three other Kikwis are missing and that he can't help you until you find them.

Okay, new mission! Start by crawling through the tunnel to your right. When you come out the other side, you'll need to walk across a rope. Balance yourself by holding the Wii Remote straight up and tilting it left or right. If you need to jostle off any spiky enemies, just shake it forward. Once you reach the other side, keep going and drop down. You'll find a Bokoblin Leader bothering a Kikwi up in a tree. Approach them, and the leader will summon a bunch of enemies. Defeat them all, then go to the Kikwi in the tree. Roll into the tree to knock it free, which also unravels a vine. Talk to the Kikwi, Lopsa. After that, grab the vine and swing up to the higher ledge. Push the log down to the lower area.

Drop down yourself and turn left to find a pool of water. There's a narrow path to the left of it, so follow that around. Then, follow the river as you go around the giant tree in the center. Go under the overpass and head straight through the area, dodging the Deku Scrubs. At the end, look to your right. You'll find a hidden tunnel behind some grass. Crawl through and defeat the Bokoblins hanging around.

After you've dealt with the enemies, climb onto the upper platform on the left. Jump across to the vines, climb them, and leap to the second set. You'll land on a high ledge. Look around in the grass for a Kikwi. Cut down the grass and wait for the Kikwi to stop moving, then talk to it. This is Erla, the second Kikwi! Now, drop back down and crawl through the tunnel again.

Back in the Deku Scrub area, head slightly south along the path. You'll see a ramp leading to a higher path. Run up it and defeat the Deku Baba. You can go left or right on this high path. If you go left towards the great tree, you can walk across a rope and find your first Piece of Heart! Nice! Take the other path around to find a tree with a hole in the ground next to it. Drop down and follow the path to find the third Kikwi. Try to pick it up, and it'll talk to you. That's Oolo! Now you can head back to the Elder.

Drop off the ledge nearby to land next to Machi. Run southeast to the Bird Statue, then climb the log next to it to reach the spiraling path. Run up it and swing across the vine at the end to reach Elder Bucha again. Talk to him, and he'll reveal that Zelda went to the temple deeper in the woods. He'll then give you the Slingshot as a reward! You'll need to dash up the Elder's back to get it. With the Slingshot, you can stun enemies and hit environmental objects.

First things first, shoot the curled-up vine above you to unravel it. Swing across to the northern ledge and head northeast (pretty much straight ahead and slightly to the right). When you reach the temple area, defeat the crows and other enemies, then head up the stairs. Go around the sides and up those stairs too. Check the Bird Statue on the viewing platform above. Since you have the Slingshot now, it's a good time to grab a couple of extra items before heading further into the woods. This is optional, but I recommend it!

Save at the Bird Statue, then use the option to return to the sky. Head back to Skyloft and land near the Bazaar. You'll see a flying ship. Shoot the bell underneath it to stop it, then hang onto the rope it drops to reach the shop entrance. This is Beedle's Airshop! He sells upgrades and other useful items. Buy the Bug Net (50 rupees) and two Extra Wallets (100 rupees each, if you can afford it). You'll need to exit and re-enter the shop after buying the first wallet to make another one appear. This way, you won't max out your wallet too quickly in the areas ahead.

Anyway, when you return to Faron Woods, choose the Viewing Platform statue to land at. From there, shoot the curled-up vine to the north and swing onto the higher ledge. Then, continue into the Deep Woods.
