Navigating the intricate dungeons of Skyward Sword HD is key to your success. This section provides detailed layouts, strategic advice, and item locations to ensure you conquer every challenge.

Skyview Temple

Your first true dungeon, Skyview Temple, introduces you to many core mechanics. Pay close attention to environmental puzzles and enemy patterns.

• Entrance Chamber: Upon entering, defeat the two Bokoblins. Notice the locked door ahead.
• Eastern Passage: Head right from the entrance. You'll encounter a Deku Baba. Use precise sword slashes to defeat it.
• Slingshot Room: In the Eastern Passage, you'll find a chest containing the Slingshot. This is crucial for hitting targets and stunning enemies from a distance. Use it immediately to hit the eye switch above the locked door back in the Entrance Chamber, opening it.
• Central Chamber: This large room features a central platform and several paths. You'll need to activate three eye switches to proceed.
  • First Eye Switch: Located directly across from where you enter. Use your Slingshot.
  • Second Eye Switch: Requires you to cross a vine bridge. Be wary of Keese.
  • Third Eye Switch: Found after navigating a small water section. You'll need to swim to a ledge.
• Boss Key Chamber: After activating all three eye switches in the Central Chamber, a door will open. Inside, you'll face a Stalfos. Defeat it by carefully observing its sword patterns and striking when its guard is down. Once defeated, a chest containing the Boss Key will appear.
• Boss Arena: Use the Boss Key on the large, ornate door. Prepare for your first boss battle against Ghirahim.

Strategy Tip: Throughout Skyview Temple, remember to use your Slingshot to stun enemies like Bokoblins before engaging them in sword combat. Also, always check behind waterfalls and in small alcoves for hidden Rupees and recovery hearts.

Earth Temple

The Earth Temple introduces lava mechanics and rolling boulders. Precision and timing are paramount here.

• Entrance Hall: After the initial cutscene, you'll be in a large cavern. Head left to find a path blocked by lava.
• Rolling Boulder Path: You'll encounter a section where large boulders roll down a ramp. Time your movements carefully to avoid being crushed. There's a small alcove halfway up with a chest containing 20 Rupees.
• Bomb Bag Acquisition: After navigating the boulder path, you'll reach a room with a large, cracked wall. Defeat the Lizalfos here. A chest will appear containing the Bomb Bag.
• Bombable Walls: Use your newly acquired Bomb Bag to destroy the cracked wall. This opens a new path.
• Magma Flow Puzzle: You'll encounter a room with flowing magma. Look for platforms that rise and fall. You'll need to use bombs to clear obstructions in the magma flow, redirecting it to raise specific platforms.
  • First Magma Redirect: Bomb the rock formation to the left to raise a platform leading to a higher ledge.
  • Second Magma Redirect: From the higher ledge, bomb another rock to redirect the magma, raising a platform that allows you to reach the other side of the room.
• Key Acquisition: After successfully navigating the magma flow, you'll find a small room with a chest containing a Small Key.
• Boss Key Chamber: Use the Small Key to unlock a door. Inside, you'll face a series of Bokoblins and a Lizalfos. After defeating them, a large boulder will appear. You need to push it into a specific hole to create a bridge over lava. This will lead to the Boss Key.
• Boss Arena: Use the Boss Key on the massive door. Prepare to face Scaldera.

Strategy Tip: When dealing with Lizalfos, aim for their tails when they expose them. For the rolling boulders, observe their patterns and use the small safe zones to catch your breath. Don't be afraid to experiment with bombs; they are versatile tools in this dungeon.

Lanayru Mining Facility

This dungeon introduces the Timeshift Stones, which alter the environment between past and present. Understanding their mechanics is crucial.

• Entrance Area: You start in a desolate, sandy area. Notice the inactive machinery.
• First Timeshift Stone: Locate the first Timeshift Stone in the initial area. Strike it with your sword to activate it, transforming the immediate surroundings into a lush, active mining facility.
• Mine Cart Puzzle: In the active past, you'll find a mine cart. You'll need to use your Slingshot to hit targets that switch tracks, guiding the cart to different areas.
  • Track Switch 1: Hit the switch to send the cart to the left.
  • Track Switch 2: From the cart, hit another switch to send it to a platform with a chest containing 30 Rupees.
  • Track Switch 3: Finally, hit the switch to send the cart to the main path, allowing you to disembark.
• Gust Bellows Acquisition: After navigating the mine cart, you'll enter a room with sand piles. Defeat the enemies here. A chest will appear containing the Gust Bellows.
• Sand Clearing: Use the Gust Bellows to clear sand piles, revealing hidden paths, switches, and items. You'll need to clear a large sand pile to reveal a pressure plate that opens a door.
• Second Timeshift Stone Puzzle: You'll encounter a large room with a central platform and several inactive machines. You need to strategically move a Timeshift Stone using the Gust Bellows to power different parts of the room.
  • Powering the Crane: Use the Gust Bellows to push the Timeshift Stone onto a specific track, powering a crane. Use the crane to move a block.
  • Activating a Door: Push the Timeshift Stone to another section to activate a door, granting access to a new area.
• Small Key Location: In a room accessed after the second Timeshift Stone puzzle, you'll find a chest containing a Small Key hidden under a sand pile.
• Boss Key Chamber: Use the Small Key to unlock a door. Inside, you'll face a series of Technoblins and a Beamos. Defeat them and solve a small Timeshift Stone puzzle to reveal the Boss Key.
• Boss Arena: Use the Boss Key on the large door. Prepare to face Moldarach.

Strategy Tip: Always be aware of the Timeshift Stone's radius. Moving it even slightly can drastically change the environment and open new possibilities or create new obstacles. The Gust Bellows is not just for clearing sand; it can also be used to push enemies or activate wind-powered mechanisms.
