The Evil Within 2 Part 23 walkthrough: Find The Barkeep's Journal, destroy art in the Art World, and rescue a Mobius Operative.
Walkthrough
- 1Explore the area south of your current location. You will find a corpse pile with three enemies. Use smoke bombs (a consumable item that creates a temporary cloud of smoke) when they run around to make them drop their fire bombs and kill themselves.
- 2Loot the area for Nails, Gunpowder, and Weapon Parts x35. Break open the numerous boxes for additional random parts.
- 3Head to "The Devil's Taproom". To the left, you'll find an Herb. Inside, you can find 2 Bottles and the file "The Barkeep's Journal" (File 25/40) in the upper right corner. Behind the bar, you can find Smoke Powder.
- 4Go to the backroom. Before interacting with the art on the wall, collect the Fuse and Nails from the cabinet to the left.
- 5Attempt to destroy the art to be pulled into the "Art World".
- 6After Sebastian gets his bearings, you will be pulled out of the room. Head to the back and take the "Small Room Key". This will change the room, revealing a body with Handgun Bullet x4 and a Smoke Bolt.
- 7You will now face two rooms with patrolling enemies. Use the numerous boxes for cover (a defensive position behind an object) to kill the two enemies in the first room.
- 8Cross the hallway and use the boxes to kill the three enemies in the second room. The furthest enemy is eating a corpse and will move in a short pattern when you approach; use a smoke bomb or a trap to defeat them.
- 9Use the Small Room Key to access the "art". A ton of trip wires will appear. Go counter-clockwise, follow the wall, and then follow the ropes to your left to reach the art from behind and destroy it, removing one of the two locks to the theater. You will then exit back into Union.
- 10Head west from the tap room to an intersection. Check the cop on the northwest corner for Handgun Bullet x5. Being near this enclosed parking space will trigger an event.
- 11Follow the monsters west to a fence and open it. A "Mobius Operative" (an allied NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you)) is by a semi-truck and is about to be swarmed. You must rescue him.
- 12Sneak up and kill the monster in the back. Use bolts (special ammunition types) and your shotgun to kill the remaining enemies in the first wave. Consider using an explosive bolt if they group up.
- 13A second group of monsters will arrive from the southeast. Use explosive bolts here to kill the bulk of these reinforcements. If needed, kick over the two red barrels on the west side of the area and shoot them to kill multiple enemies.
- 14After clearing the enemies, loot the area. Collect Handgun Bullet x5, a Syringe (do not use), and an Axe from the northeast. On the west side, find two Shotgun Shell x3 items and Weapon Parts x25.
- 15Follow the agent to his safehouse to the west and enter. Use "Coffee Maker 6/7" (a refill station for health items).
- 16Collect items in the safehouse: Gunpowder, Handgun Bullet x6, and an Explosive Bolt in the main room and mirror room. Also find Weapon Parts x40 and Shotgun Shell x2.
- 17Talk to Sykes (another surviving NPC). He will ask you to restart a server in the Marrow to look for a way out, which will also unlock CACHE BOXES (containers for items) in the area.
Tips
- When dealing with the three enemies near the corpse pile, using a smoke bomb will cause them to drop their fire bombs and kill themselves.
- The enemies in the Art World can be effectively dealt with using cover and traps.
- Be sure to have at least two explosive bolts before heading west from the tap room, as they are highly recommended for the Mobius Operative rescue event.
- The west side of the area during the Mobius Operative rescue contains two red barrels that can be shot to cause an explosion, killing multiple enemies.
- The Syringe found after the Mobius Operative rescue should not be used.
