Build the best good party in Sword of the Sea with Ajantis, Jaheira, Branwen, Minsc, and Imoen. Learn their roles and strengths.
Party Members:
- Ajantis
- Jaheira
- Branwen (or Yeslick, Viconia)
- Minsc (or Kivan, Coran)
- Imoen
Ajantis is the premier good party leader candidate in Sword of the Sea. His Strength and Constitution are adequate, and with The Gauntlets of Dexterity, he achieves the necessary Armor Class for a front-line leader. Ajantis excels in prowess, resilience, and Charisma, making him ideal for the role.
Jaheira serves as a secondary Fighter. While not a full-fledged Fighter, she performs well as a Cleric with strong melee capabilities. Her stats, especially with the Gauntlets of Ogre Power, allow her to function as a front-liner while also casting Druid spells. Her versatility surpasses that of Khalid or other warriors, with the exception of Yeslick.
The Cleric role can be challenging. Branwen is a decent option, and the game can be completed with her. However, the good party lacks exceptional warriors until Baldur's Gate 2. Yeslick offers many of Jaheira's advantages, being a capable Fighter who can cast spells and is not subject to poor computer leveling. It is recommended to use Branwen until the Cloakwood Mines, then switch to Yeslick. Alternatively, Viconia can be used, despite being evil, as alignment issues are less critical until Baldur's Gate 2.
Minsc is a competent Archer, though Coran and Kivan are superior. Minsc is included as a sequel character and can participate in melee combat due to his Strength and proficiencies, provided he stays behind a more heavily-armed character.
Imoen excels as both a party Mage and Thief through dual-classing. She can disarm traps, pick locks, and cast the full spectrum of Mage spells, including an additional spell per level.
- Use The Gauntlets of Dexterity on Ajantis for optimal Armor Class.
- Consider the Gauntlets of Ogre Power for Jaheira to enhance her front-line capabilities.
- Switch from Branwen to Yeslick after the Cloakwood Mines for a more optimized Cleric.
- Viconia can be a viable, albeit evil, Cleric option for the good party before Baldur's Gate 2.
- Imoen's dual-classing makes her invaluable for both magical and thieving skills.
