Alright, let's talk about Hero units in Stormgate! These are your special commanders, and they've got their own unique ways of leveling up and getting stronger, but it's a bit different depending on how you're playing. First off, you won't find heroes in the 1v1 mode, but they're a big deal in the Campaign, 3v3, and Co-op modes. Unlike regular units, heroes don't gain experience or carry items, but they do have their own progression system. Campaign Play: In the campaign, your hero levels up and keeps those levels throughout. You can also research and equip gear for them. For the Vanguard faction, this happens aboard the _Raptor One_ through a loadout system. Multiplayer Modes: * Co-op: When you pick a hero in Co-op, it actually tweaks your faction's tech tree, giving you access to new units and different army builds. The hero Blockade is free for everyone, and all their progression is unlocked. Other heroes are free up to level 5, after which you'll need to purchase them for $10 USD each to keep playing with them. Initially, heroes cap at level 15. Levels 1-10 focus on core abilities, while levels 11+ unlock customization through gear. Keep an eye out, as the level cap will be raised later on. * Team Mayhem: In this mode, each player picks a hero, and that hero comes with five specific units, five structures, and five unit upgrades. Your hero choice really defines your sub-faction's composition. Some heroes might only be available in this mode. There's no meta-progression here, and each hero is capped at a certain level.
