Learn how to place, collect, and earn credits with Geotags in SSX 3. Understand the time-based credit system for both placers and collectors.

Alright, let's talk about Geotags in SSX 3. These are super important for earning credits, but you gotta know how they work. Think of them as little markers you leave on the mountain for other players to find. It's a neat system, but there's a catch: you can ONLY place them when you're rewinding. If you're in a Global Event that locks down rewinding, you're out of luck for placing any Geotags.

Keep an eye on the bottom of your screen while you're rewinding. You'll see a prompt telling you which button to hit to place a Geotag. Nail it, and you've just put your marker down!

So, what happens after you place one? Well, it becomes available for ANYONE playing that same SSX track to find. When someone snags your Geotag, they score some credits. How many credits they get, and how many you eventually earn, all depends on how long that Geotag has been chilling out in the game world before it's collected.

Here's the deal for the person who PLACED the Geotag: From the second you drop it, you start racking up a percentage of its total value. This percentage is based on how long it's been active, up to a maximum of 24 hours. For example, after 12 hours, you'll have earned 50% of the Geotag's maximum potential value. Hit 18 hours, and you're looking at 75%. Once your Geotag has been out there for a full 24 hours, it expires, and you get the full maximum amount.

Now, for the players who are COLLECTING Geotags, it's the exact opposite dynamic. They want to find these things ASAP! The longer a Geotag has been sitting around, the LESS value it has for the collector. So, the sooner you find one, the bigger the payout for you.

Let's break it down with an example. Say a player named gondee places a Geotag. He sets it up so it could potentially give him 10,000 credits just for placing it, and could earn him a maximum of 100,000 credits if it stayed uncollected for 24 hours. He places this Geotag on a track.

Eight hours later, another player, vix, comes along and collects gondee's Geotag. Since gondee's Geotag was out in the world for 8 hours (which is 33% of the full 24-hour cycle), gondee earns 33% of the Geotag's maximum potential worth. That's 33,000 credits for gondee.

Vix, the collector, snagged it pretty early. She earned the remaining amount – the 67,000 credits that gondee didn't get yet. See how it works? Place 'em smart, collect 'em fast, and you'll be swimming in credits!
