Learn how to sacrifice to Kali for rewards like the Kapala and how to rob shops in Spelunky 2.
Walkthrough
- 1Find Kali's Altar in a level.
- 2Sacrifice bodies (Monty, Hired Hand, NPC (non-player character — anyone the game controls, not you), mounts, enemies) or items to earn favor. Dead sacrifices are worth half points.
- 3Earn 8 favor points for a piece of equipment you don't have.
- 4Earn 16 favor points for removal of Cursed status, or the Kapala if you don't have it.
- 5Earn 16 favor points for Royal Jelly if you already have the Kapala.
- 6To get the Kapala early, carry bodies to the Altar. Use whip or stomp to carry live bodies without stunning them for too long.
- 7Scour levels for Monty, who may be in a backroom or already dead.
- 8Consider opening Coffins to sacrifice Hired Hands.
- 9Once you have the Kapala (skull cup), walk over blood droplets to fill it.
- 10Every eight blood droplets fill the Kapala and earn you +1 HP.
- 11Mosquitoes and other enemies drop more blood. Equipping Vlad's Cape doubles blood dropped by enemies.
- 12Damage enemies with weaker attacks to yield more blood per enemy. Even Monty and mounts yield blood. Small creatures like snails and butterflies also have blood.
- 13Destroying Kali's Altar immediately loses 16 favor points and usually spawns random enemies, potentially including Vampires. This can be an easy way to get a Cape.
- 14After destroying one Altar, an NPC named Beg appears at the next Altar with a message about chaos, dropping a Bomb Bag before disappearing.
- 15If you become Cursed, Beg reappears at the next Altar and gives you the True Crown, which grants 22 Bombs and teleports you every 22 seconds.
- 16After destroying a second Altar, Kali attaches a ball and chain, limiting movement. You can carry the ball, and it can be destroyed by level hazards like lava or crushing attacks.
- 17After destroying a third Altar, Kali gives you another ball and chain, Curses you, and summons the Ghost on every subsequent level.
- 18Robbing shops is easy. Stand in the same space as the Shopkeeper and hit him with a Rope to stun him long enough to grab his Shotgun and kill him or run.
- 19If a shop has a locked room, the Shopkeeper drops a key on top of his Shotgun when stunned. Quickly pick up and put down the key to grab the Shotgun from under it.
- 20Alternatively, pick up a Teleporter from a shop and teleport away to trigger the "Stop, thief!" text without being shot.
- 21Rearrange shop inventory before acting. Move items like Bomb Bags and backpacks out of the line of fire.
- 22Hold a backpack or cape before angering the Shopkeeper to instantly equip it.
- 23Position a Mystery Box in the same space as the Shopkeeper to open it with a Rope simultaneously.
- 24The Shopkeeper has 10 HP and his Shotgun deals 4 damage. He is not damaged by the whip.
- 25Thrown objects damage him but don't normally stun him. Stomping him from above stuns him briefly.
- 26The Shopkeeper tries to match your vertical position; he jumps and climbs if you are above him, and runs straight forward if you are below or level.
- 27Lure him off ledges or up to ledges to create openings. He can get stuck in spiderwebs.
- 28He is limited by his Shotgun's firerate. You can rush past him between shots.
- 29He won't fire his Shotgun from greater than 8 tiles away.
- 30Killing everyone at the Black Market is easy. Shoot across long corridors from outside their attack range.
- 31Shopkeepers will climb ladders to reach you; hanging on a ladder allows them to climb into your feet.
- 32Proximity to multiple Shopkeepers will cause them to shoot each other. Draw fights away from explosive items.
- 33Once angered, the Shopkeeper remains aggressive in future encounters and ambushes you at level exits.
