Hey there! So you're diving into Songs of Conquest and want to get a handle on your heroes' abilities and skills? That's a smart move! Understanding how to best use your heroes is key to crushing your enemies and completing those tough campaigns. Let's break down how to make your heroes truly shine.

First off, don't forget that exploring the map is super important. Always keep an eye out for resources to boost your economy, and capture buildings to get more of those sweet resources. Plus, more visibility means you can spot enemies (or loot!) before they spot you. If you're not grabbing everything, your opponent definitely will be!

To make looting even faster and more efficient, try to increase your hero's movement stat and get a secondary Wielder. If your secondary Wielder can grab all the goodies, your main hero can focus on more fights each turn. Oh, and a pro-tip: use the ALT key often! It shows you everything you can interact with, and sometimes it even reveals items hidden behind environmental objects. Seriously, it's a game-changer.

Next up, you've gotta make a plan. Decide which units you're aiming for and what research you want to prioritize. Focusing on just a few unit types means research is cheaper and you'll reinforce your armies faster. The trade-off is you'll be less flexible and won't be able to cast as wide a variety of spells. It's good to experiment during the first few maps of most campaigns, as they're usually easier. This lets you figure out what tactics and units you actually like, so you can make a solid plan for the final, tougher maps.

Now, let's talk about building in your towns and settlements. You've got limited slots, so use them wisely:

• Towns get 7 small, 3 medium, and 2 large building slots.
• Large Settlements get 3 small, 2 medium, and 1 large building slot.
• Small Settlements get 2 small and 1 medium building slot.

If you have free building slots, think about what you need most. If you're short on rare resources, consider building multiple Markets (up to 5!). They let you trade for better prices, which unlocks your highest-tier units and makes upgrades cheaper and faster. If you're running out of units, focus on one unit type and use Rally Points to reinforce your armies. And if an enemy is marching your way, build a Tower! They're powerful, only take one turn to build, and can be used to take down dangerous creatures like Cheluns or Necromancers. Even if you can't wipe out their whole army, softening them up is a great way to prepare for a future battle.

Finally, you'll find tons of Artifacts scattered across the campaign maps. Some are great, some... not so much. But even if you get a dud, it's not the end of the world. You can always hold onto it to sell later at an Artifact shop or give it to another Wielder. Keep an eye out for artifact sets too – while they aren't enabled in the base campaigns (Arleon, Rana, Loth & Barya), they can be super powerful, especially early on. So, don't be afraid to go hunting for them!
