After enjoying the sunset from your bedroom window, exit the room. You will hear a tap blasting. Check your washroom for a strange sight in the bathtub that you cannot get rid of. A hole is also getting larger with strange sounds, but do not enter it yet. Head to your front door where you may hear muffled voices. Check the peephole for a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) and obtain the RED DIARY - JULY 23 and the SUPERINTENDENT'S MEMO, which is covered in blood and unreadable.

You can check on Eileen and may hear an unimportant news report on your radio. Place the recent placard in the item chest with other unneeded items. Save your game if desired, then enter the larger hole in your washroom.

Walkthrough

    You will enter the building world. Note the PORTAL (a gateway to another area) on the wall behind Henry. Try to stay dry in this environment. Ignore the upside down stairs and door.

    Make your way around the far corner and down the nearby stairs to encounter a Gum Head. Attack it with your pipe or continue down the other stairs to the left for a cutscene.

    You will meet Richard. After he leaves, two Gum Heads will drop down, one blocking the next door. You can fight them or push past through the door. You are now on the roof of Hotel South Ashfield.

    Hear an odd sound and move down the hall to discover a Ghost pinned by a sword in the main room. Examine it to find something in its hand, then take the GHOST'S KEY.

    You can also take the SWORD OF OBEDIENCE, which keeps the Ghost pinned. However, if you remove it, the Ghost will get up and chase you. Leaving the sword is an option.

    You will meet Red Tremers on the close fence, which are similar to previous enemies but red. Pass by them and circle around down the large stairwell in a clockwise fashion, avoiding falling Tremers. Find and pass through the southwest door at the bottom. If you took the sword from the Ghost above, it may appear here and follow you.

    Pass through the other door in the small hall to a storage room. Find the PISTOL BULLETS on the far shelf and proceed through the other door to a sporting goods store.

    Inside the store, find a 5-IRON golf club to the right and an ALUMINUM BAT beside the volleyball basket. Switch to the bat. A PORTAL is by the door you entered from.
Tips
  • The Swords of Obedience can be used to stab downed Ghosts to keep them from respawning. To use one, defeat a Ghost until it doesn't immediately get back up (or use Holy Candles or Silver Bullets). Then, stab it with the sword. The Ghost in this area is not a significant threat if the sword is removed.
  • The Ghost in the Birthday Cake Room can be dealt with, or you can leave the Sword of Obedience in it.
  • Consider switching to the Aluminum Bat found in the sporting goods store as it is an immediate upgrade.
