Navigate Returnal's Biome 4, the Echoing Ruins. Learn enemy weaknesses, boss strategies for Hyperion, and how to find the Echoing Keys.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
In the Echoing Ruins, you'll face familiar enemies with enhanced attacks and increased hostility. Purple lasers are more frequent; remember you cannot dash through them and must jump or maneuver around.
  2. 2
Locate the Hub Room. From here, two branching mainline story paths will become available.
  3. 3
Proceed down both branching paths to find the two Echoing Keys located at the end of each.
  4. 4
Once both keys are collected, return to the Hub Room and use them to unlock the door leading towards the boss.

Biome 4 Enemies:

  • Echoing Turret: Fires yellow lasers with a charge-up time. Destroy them before they fire or time your dash just before activation.
  • Gyropod: Fires a quick stream of machinegun fire. A well-timed dash can evade this, but swarms can be tricky. They tend to get close.
  • Proto-Strixera: Upgraded Strixera with a triple-stacked, fast-moving red ring attack that expands outwards. Dashing through it is recommended; jumping can be difficult on uneven terrain.
  • Strixera Matriarch: Rare enemy. Has homing attacks, bullet spam, and a tricky purple laser attack that starts as four prongs and connects at your location. Dodge left or right as the beam is about to connect. It has a red weakpoint that exposes after taking enough damage; focus fire on it.
  • Proto-Titanops: Similar to regular Titanops but with a new attack producing two purple rings that must be jumped or outrun. They are quicker and more persistent.
  • Malformed Proto-Titanops: Another Titanops variant with more purple laser attacks.
  • Trichozoid: If they have a red barrier, melee them to break it, then follow up with a few shots. If no barrier, attack from a distance; they are slow and don't move much.

Boss Battle: Hyperion

Hyperion is a challenging boss, known for his tankiness. Always move and strafe. He spends much of the fight immobile at his organ, making him an easy target, but he becomes very durable.

  • Phase 1: Hyperion stays at the organ. Focus on dealing damage quickly. He will eventually use attacks from the organ itself. Stay at mid-range, strafe left or right, and change direction when you reach the arena's edge. Most attacks are too slow to hit a constantly moving player.
  • Phase 1 Attacks:
    • Two Volleys of Blue Homing Bullets: Move and dash left or right to avoid.
    • Red Ground Ring: A red energy ring projects outwards from the ground.
