Follow this guide to solve the fates of Seaman John Naples and Captain Witterel's Swedish steward in Return of the Obra Dinn's Unholy Captives (Part A).

You're back in the present-day Obra Dinn, in the middle of the Cargo Deck where Samuel Peters' hologram is. From where Samuel's hologram is, turn to your right and go port, then turn to your left and go aft toward the stairs. On your way, you notice spikes from behind the wall inside to the port of where the door is. This door must lead to the lazarette, but it's locked. We'll worry about that later once you've correctly solved 58 fates. Right now, you've got one more body to search for. From where the door to the lazarette is, turn to your right, and go port to where the fossilized remains of a human leg are behind the stairs. Approach the leg to bring up the Memento Mortem and activate it.

The first thing you hear is a pained, agonizing scream coming from a legless seaman, with the voice of Dr. Evans calling out to "keep pressure here." Captain Witterel orders someone to "hold him down." The Captain's voice asks someone what's going on, referring to him as "twenty years my steward" and telling him to explain himself. The Swedish guy explains that "those ungodly beasts carry a curse" and that the Captain must "throw them back into the ocean or doom us all." The Captain orders to "tie him up and put him in the lazarette with those... things." Another voice urges the Swedish guy on, who gives out a Swedish interjection for "You fools!" (_"Era darar!"_). Meanwhile, the legless dude's moans get weaker, as Dr. Evans' voice gives out the name "John," telling him that everything is fine and that he's "been in worse spots," before asking for "the rest of his leg." John gives out a final groan.

You're now in front of the legless dude, who has expired from his leg wound. Get up close to the legless dude supported by Zungi Sathi (next to Dr. Evans and James Wallace) and zoom in on him, then bring up the sketch. This is the guy whom Dr. Evans calls "John," a seaman from Wales. Click on the bald-headed dude's profile, then the "Unknown" tag, and ID him as "Seaman John Naples" (#50). This brings the total of correctly identified fates to 51.

Exit the sketch. From where Naples is, take a few steps back, then turn to your right, and go port to find a bloody cutlass lying on the ground to the port of Dr. Evans. This must be the cutlass that was used to cut off Naples' leg. Look at where its hilt points out to, then turn to your diagonal right, and go port-and-aft to find the culprit being led away by Bosun's Mate Charles Miner as the Captain looks on. Zoom in on the culprit the cutlass' hilt points out to, and bring up the sketch. Captain Witterel stated that the guy has been his steward for 20 years, "and never a doubt on [his] sanity." This is the only Captain's Steward who hails from Sweden. Click on the Swedish guy's profile, then the "Unknown" tag.
