There are five Attache Cases available in the resident evil 4 remake. Not all cases are available to every player; the Classic Case is exclusive to Deluxe or Collector’s edition pre-orders, and the Gold Case is for standard edition pre-orders. While all buffs are useful, some are more impactful throughout your playthrough.

Classic Attache Case

• Buff: Increased Drop Rate for Gunpowder

This case is currently only obtainable by pre-ordering the Deluxe or Collector’s edition of the game. It may become available as standalone DLC (downloadable content — extra missions or items released after launch) or in a future update. The increased gunpowder drop rate is highly useful, especially if you frequently run low on ammunition. To conserve ammo, aim for enemy weak points (legs, head) to stagger them, then finish with a melee attack. This method often kills enemies with just one or two bullets followed by melee.

Gold Attache Case

• Buff: Increased Drop Rate for Pesetas

This case is also unavailable to players who did not pre-order at least the standard edition. It increases the drop rate of Pesetas, which is useful for upgrading weapons. This buff is less impactful than the gunpowder increase, as Pesetas are generally abundant from Chapter 2 onwards through gameplay and defeating enemies.

Silver Attache Case

• Buff: Increased Drop Rate for Handgun Ammo

This is the default case you start the game with. It increases the drop rate for handgun ammo, which is beneficial as resident evil 4 remake is more action-oriented. The handgun is a versatile weapon, and this buff becomes even more useful with powerful variants like the Red 9 Pistol. You can generally stick with this case unless you have no issues with handgun ammo conservation.

Leather Attache Case

• Buff: Increased Drop Rate for Red Herbs

Available from Chapter 8 onwards. It can be traded with the Merchant for 12 Spinels. This case is considered one of the weaker options, as red herbs are generally plentiful and can be combined with green herbs for healing. Other healing methods are usually sufficient, making this buff somewhat redundant for most players, though it might help if you constantly struggle with low health.

Black Attache Case

• Buff: Increased Drop Rate for Resources

Available from Chapter 4 onwards, this is arguably one of the best cases. It increases the drop rate for Resources, which are essential for crafting various ammo types (handgun, rifle, machine gun, Bolt Thrower) and grenades. Resources are crucial for dealing with large groups of enemies efficiently and conserving regular ammunition. Given its crafting utility, the Black Attache Case is a top choice, especially if you cannot access the Classic or Gold cases.
