Beyond the basic mechanics, several strategies and hidden elements can significantly improve your performance in Pixel Gun 3D: PC Edition. Incorporating these tips into your gameplay will lead to higher scores and easier completion of challenging levels.

Hidden Stuff

Every level in Pixel Gun 3D contains hidden resources. Specifically, each level features 3 sets of Coins and a single Gem concealed within the trees. To uncover these, simply walk over the trees. Finding these hidden caches early in a level can provide a substantial economic boost, especially on harder difficulties or when aiming for high scores. Be aware that some hidden Coins or Gems might be in trees that are initially inaccessible, requiring you to clear paths or wait for certain events.

Check Tower Status

Regularly monitoring your tower's upgrade progress is crucial. By holding down the L1 button (or its PC equivalent, typically a designated key that can be remapped), you can view the upgrade status of all your deployed towers simultaneously. This visual feedback allows you to quickly identify towers that are nearing an upgrade completion through 'dancing' (standing near them) or those that would benefit most from an instant Gem upgrade. Prioritizing upgrades on towers that are almost complete can save valuable Gems and accelerate your defensive capabilities.

Early Game Economy

Focus on maximizing your Coin income in the early waves. This often means building a few cost-effective towers and then prioritizing interest upgrades at your base using Gems. A strong economy early on will allow you to build and upgrade more powerful towers in later, more challenging waves.

Tower Placement

Consider the monster pathing when placing towers. Towers should be positioned to maximize their area of effect and ensure they can fire upon monsters for the longest possible duration. Chokepoints and areas where monster paths converge are ideal locations for high-damage towers. For flying monsters, ensure Anti-Air Gun Towers or Laser Towers have clear lines of sight along their flight paths.

Adaptability

Pixel Gun 3D often throws varied monster types at you. Be prepared to adapt your tower strategy. If a wave of shielded monsters is approaching, ensure you have towers that can counter their specific shield type. Don't be afraid to sell less effective towers (though remember the 70% return penalty) to build more appropriate defenses for upcoming threats.
