Learn about the Shrine in Nioh 2: how to level up using amrita, make offerings for divine rice, manage jutsu, and more.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Interact with a Shrine (which functions as a checkpoint) to access its services.
  2. 2
Choose 'Leveling Up' to spend gathered amrita (experience points) to increase your character's level, up to a maximum of 300. Each level costs an increasing amount of amrita and grants one core skill point to invest in core stats.
  3. 3
Select 'Make Offering' to donate unwanted equipment for amrita, Elixir, and divine rice. The rarity and max familiarity of equipment increase the amrita gained.
  4. 4
At the Shrine, you can also purchase Kodama blessings for 100 gold, providing minor bonuses in missions. These blessings depend on finding specific Kodama (spirits) in each region; 5 Kodama of a type grant a bonus.
  5. 5
Blessing types include Oracle (increase amrita gain up to 25%), Samurai (increase equipment drop rate up to 5%), Yamabushi (increase soul core drop rate up to 5%), Healer (increase Elixir drop rate up to 5%), and Hunter (increase material drop rate up to 25%).
  6. 6
Collecting Kodama also increases the amount of Elixir received when praying at a Shrine.
  7. 7
Access the Kodama Bazaar (usable only in missions) to spend divine rice on items, ammo, and equipment.
  8. 8
Choose 'Ready Jutsu' to prepare ninjutsu and onmyojutsu spells, which consume capacity that can be increased by the Dexterity and Magic core stats. This tab only appears if you have unlocked at least one ninjutsu or onmyojutsu spell.
  9. 9
Manage your Guardian Spirit and Soul Cores. You can change equipped Guardian Spirits and their associated Yokai Soul Cores, and view their requirements.
  10. 10
In the Soul Core management tab, fuse identical Soul Cores to increase their level up to 9, enhancing their effects. Mortal Soul Cores from human enemies can also be used to level up any core and change its type.
  11. 11
Use Resting Rites to discard excess Soul Cores, gaining Astral Wisdom to unlock and upgrade skills in the Shiftling skill tree.
  12. 12
Access 'Boons' for DLC (downloadable content — extra missions or items released after launch) collections and 'Summon Visitor' to call another player for cooperative play.
Tips
  • Shrines act as your primary respawn (be brought back to life at a checkpoint after death) point if you die during a mission.
  • Books of Reincarnation allow you to regain all spent amrita and reallocate your core stats, which is useful for experimenting with different builds, especially in NG+.
  • Each core stat provides specific benefits, including increased Life, Ki, resistances, equipment weight capacity, and damage bonuses for certain weapon types. For example, Constitution increases Life and resistance to Poison and Paralysis, while also increasing spear damage. Heart increases Ki and fire resistance, boosting Sword and Bow damage. Courage increases Ki recovery speed and lightning resistance, enhancing Tonfa damage. Stamina increases Life (less than Constitution) and equipment weight, boosting Axe and Hand Cannon damage. Strength allows the use of heavy armor effects and increases Odachi damage. Skill is similar to Strength but for light armor, boosting Dual Swords, Hatchets, and Rifle damage. Dexterity increases ninjutsu damage and capacity, boosting Kusarigama damage. Magic increases onmyojutsu capacity and damage, boosting Switchglaive damage.
  • The maximum level for stats is currently 300.
  • Over time, the effectiveness of core stat increases diminishes as the stat level gets higher.
  • You can equip two Guardian Spirits later in the game, with the second spirit offering a single, reduced effect while on standby.
  • The final tab in the Shrine menu is currently unused but may be populated with future DLC.
