Crypt Lich Lord Malakor is a challenging boss encounter found deep within the cursed catacombs of Shadowfen. Malakor is a master of necromancy and dark magic, wielding powerful spells that can drain life, summon undead minions, and inflict debilitating status effects. His signature spell is Soul Drain, which deals moderate shadow damage and heals Malakor for a percentage of the damage dealt. He also frequently summons Skeletal Warriors and Wraiths to fight for him.

The primary challenge in this fight is managing Malakor's healing and the constant stream of undead minions. It is crucial to have a party member dedicated to dispelling buffs or interrupting spellcasting, as Malakor can cast Dark Pact on himself, significantly increasing his spell power. Interrupting his Soul Drain is also a high priority to prevent him from healing back up. Abilities that deal holy or radiant damage are particularly effective against Malakor and his undead summons, as they are weak to such energies.

When Malakor summons Skeletal Warriors and Wraiths, they must be dealt with swiftly. The Skeletal Warriors are slow but hit hard, while the Wraiths are faster and can inflict a Curse of Weakness, reducing your party's attack power. Area-of-effect spells that deal holy damage, such as Divine Smite or Holy Nova, are excellent for clearing these minions. If your party lacks strong AoE holy damage, focus fire on the minions one by one, prioritizing the Wraiths due to their debuff.

Malakor himself has a substantial health pool, around 3000 HP, and possesses high magical resistance. Physical damage dealers should focus on breaking through his defenses while spellcasters exploit his weakness to holy damage. Consider using the Amulet of Arcane Resistance if you have it, as it can mitigate some of his shadow and necrotic damage. A common mistake is to ore the summoned undead, allowing Malakor to heal to full health repeatedly. Another mistake is not bringing enough healing or cleansing abilities, as his spells can quickly wear down your party.

To prepare for this encounter, ensure your party is well-equipped with gear that offers resistance to shadow and necrotic damage. Potions that restore mana or provide temporary buffs to spellcasting power can also be very helpful. If you find yourself consistently failing due to Malakor's healing, consider bringing a character with a strong single-target interrupt ability or a debuff that reduces enemy healing. The fight requires careful management of multiple threats and a strategic application of damage types.
