Navigate the warehouse and the treacherous train yard in Left 4 Dead. Find weapons, use pipe bombs, and prepare for the final church defense.
Walkthrough
- 1From the warehouse, head towards the safe room. Check doorways and bathrooms for weapons and pipe bombs.
- 2Exit the safe house into the train yard. Search train cars for Infected or use pipe bombs.
- 3Climb the tower in the center of the train yard for upgraded weapons.
- 4Check the small building to the right of the tower for items.
- 5Proceed to the loading platform. Search the building before climbing the walkway for fuel cans or propane tanks.
- 6Climb the walkway and check rooms for ammo and upgraded weapons.
- 7If the Horde attacks on the loading platform, place fuel cans/propane tanks on the platform or train and ignite them. Watch for Smokers on the roof.
- 8Walk onto the train and drop down. Watch for Infected in wooded areas and be aware of Smokers and Hunters ambushing from trees.
- 9If a Tank appears, use the open road to flee while attacking.
- 10Pass the flaming church bus and check the nearby shed for a first-aid station.
- 11Continue down the road until an overturned truck blocks the path. Enter the one-story house on the right.
- 12Fight through the house, anticipating Infected and Smokers on the ridge and potentially ambushing from above.
- 13Be aware of Witches, often found in or around the house, possibly in the shed. Check the shed table for ammo and other items.
- 14Search rooms inside the house for tools, fuel cans (kitchen supply closet), and other weapons/items.
- 15After exiting the house, head towards an ambulance for pain pills, a first-aid kit, and/or an oxygen tank.
- 16The path to Riverside is blocked; take the alternate route through the cemetery.
- 17In the cemetery, watch for Infected near tombstones. Use fuel cans and molotov cocktails from the shack at the entrance to clear Infected.
- 18Approach the church and check the side room for ammo and upgraded weapons.
- 19The survivor in the safe house will initially refuse entry. Stock up and prepare for the Horde.
- 20The survivor will sound the church bells, attracting a massive Horde from all angles.
- 21Prepare by taking a fuel can near the sandbags and lighting it near the cemetery.
- 22Stay inside the chapel for defense, as it's the largest area with access to entry points.
- 23Be aware that the Infected may break through the wall into the ammo room, creating another entry point. Avoid hiding there.
Tips
- The train cars in the train yard offer good cover for Infected.
- Pipe bombs are effective for clearing groups of Infected in the train yard.
- Fuel cans and propane tanks can be used to create fire walls on the loading platform.
- Smokers can be found on the roof of the loading platform area.
- Infected can hide in wooded areas along the road.
- Smokers and Hunters often hide in trees to ambush players.
- The road after the church bus offers ample space to evade a Tank.
- Infected and Smokers may ambush from the ridge to the right of the house.
- Witches can be found in or around the house, sometimes in the shed.
- The cemetery shack contains fuel cans and molotov cocktails.
- The chapel is the best defensive position during the final Horde assault.
- The Infected may breach the wall into the ammo room, creating an additional entry point.
- Strategy by Dybo: To easily defend against the final Horde, go outside the church and through a window (or around the church to a dead end with a window). Get all survivors in that corner. The Horde will mostly come from the front, with a few attempting to jump on top. One survivor can prevent them from gaining a foothold by smacking upwards. Return to the safehouse and kill any special infected emerging from the door.
