The street is inhabited with a fair amount of Infected, and the Horde tends to show up here sooner or later. Watch out for the red car with the alarm to the left of the office building you came out of. Be aware of Smokers on the other side of the fence and other Special Infected in unexpected spots. If you wish to risk it and ignore enemies, you can hurry into the Self Storage building, which contains a safe house in the back.

Walkthrough

    Head left from the safe house. The alley is shaped like a square, and the exit is to your left, so there's no need to go the long way. Continue to the construction site.

    The construction site is large with many areas to fight the eventual wave of Horde or a possible Tank. Climb up the ladder or rubble to reach the large central tower, where pipe bombs or Molotov cocktails can often be found.

    Walk across the wooden beam into the unfinished building to find fuel cans.

    Your objective is to destroy a barricade in the far corner of the construction site. From the top of the unfinished building, you can get a good view of the barricade. Shoot the fuel cans at its base to destroy it.

    As the Horde arrives, use the fuel cans by dropping them and shooting them to create a fiery area. The building provides a bird's-eye view, which is useful against the Infected. Be cautious of Smokers appearing from below and pulling you off the high ground.
Tips
  • Bypassing the Barricade: For a tricky maneuver, jump onto the railing directly in front of the barricade and gas cans. Face the barricade, and on the brick wall to your right, you'll find an electrician's access box. Make a running leap from the railing onto this box, then run to its end and leap to the barricade. With practice, you can land on top of the barricade and hop down to the other side. This is particularly useful on Expert difficulty.
  • Team Management: Your AI teammates cannot perform this jump. You will need to either kill them and save them later, leave them behind, or take the harder route of blowing the gas cans.
  • Last Player Caution: The last player to jump over is vulnerable to Hunters or Smokers. If you have a hunting rifle, you can shoot through the wood to help.
  • Smoker Warning: The construction site is a common area for Smokers, who may appear from below.
