Conquer Portal Reloaded's laser puzzles! This guide breaks down Test Chambers 13, 14, and 15, showing you how to manipulate lasers and time portals to solve them.
Alright, let's dive into some of the trickier parts of Portal Reloaded, focusing on those laser puzzles in Test Chambers 13, 14, and 15. These will really test your understanding of how lasers and time portals interact, so pay close attention!
Test Chamber 13
We're kicking things off in Test Chamber 13. Your first move is to get your portals placed just like in the image. The goal here is to use a portal to redirect the laser sideways, and then use a time portal to send that laser into the future. Don't be afraid to take a little laser damage if it means getting into the future correctly – it's worth it!
Once you've made it to the future, you can reposition your portals without messing with the present setup. Just aim them so the laser hits the target directly. Once that's done, you'll be able to head through the exit door for this chamber.
Test Chamber 14
For Test Chamber 14, we're starting by jumping back to the present using a time portal. First, grab a reflector cube from the switch in the middle of the room. You'll need to place this cube in the present, in the spot shown in the image. Now, use a portal to guide a laser through the first node, and then use that laser to bounce off the cube and hit the next two nodes. After that, it's time to jump to the future.
In the future, use your portals as shown in the image to bring a laser back into the present, making sure it passes through the node. Now, grab the reflector cube from the future and bring it back to the present through a time portal. The reflector cube you placed in the present should now be hitting all three nodes. If it's not quite right, just tweak its position. If you moved the future reflector cube, you might need to go back to the future to grab it again and bring it to the present.
Finally, place the future reflector cube at the end of the nodes so it redirects the laser right into the receiver, just like in the image. This will wrap up Test Chamber 14.
Test Chamber 15
Test Chamber 15 is a bit of a marathon with lots of back-and-forth through time portals. To start, head through the particle field on the left. Place a portal right where the laser is hitting the wall, and then put a time portal on the opposite wall, as shown in the image. To get past the particle field without losing your portals, you'll need to travel through the time portal to the future. Once you're in the future, the particle field won't be an issue, so you can move freely. Head to the other side of the room and use another time portal to return to the present, putting you on the far side of that particle field.
Now, place a new portal on the upper wall above the laser room so the laser hits the first receiver. Jump back to the future and place a portal on the small wall in the laser room, aiming it at the receiver as shown in the image. Head back to the present. The laser should still be hitting the first receiver. You'll notice the receiver and the node are powering up an elevating platform near the switch. Stand on this platform and then place a time portal behind the node, as shown in the next image.
This action will raise the platform you're on, allowing you to grab a reflector cube! Place this reflector cube on the small ledge above the second receiver. Now, travel to the future by placing your time portal wherever is convenient. Grab the future reflector cube and head back into the laser room. You'll need to place another time portal in here to bring the future reflector cube into the laser room in the present. Position it so the cube reflects the laser into the second receiver through the node, just like in the image.
Next, we need to get to the other side of the particle field without actually going through it. If you've got a portal on the other side, just pass through it with the laser, or use a time portal to bypass the field. Make sure you're in the present on the other side. Climb the stairs and use a portal on the upper wall to hit the third receiver. Finally, place the reflector cube onto the switch, as shown in the image below, to complete this challenging test chamber.
