CHAPTER 2: The fall

Walkthrough for Gears 5's Chapter 2: The Fall. Learn how to escape the building, defeat the Swarm, and take down the Kraken boss with our detailed guide.

This area has no Collectibles or Components

As soon as the chapter starts, you must find your way out of the building. From where you began, go right then go left and lift the column. You will be stuck for a few moments. Next, climb up the building and open the door to get outside.

You will find some weapons ahead. Supply yourself and proceed through the path. Next, the Swarm will engage: first some Juvies, then Drones, then a Scion. Deal with them and keep forward. Once you reach the end of the path, turn left and proceed through the train cars. Next, crouch through the opening to advance.

As soon as you pass through the gap, you will meet up with Marcus. Now, defeat the Pouncers and clear the area of the remaining Drones. You can find a Dropshot on the left; just climb on the path and you will find it lying against the wall. There are some explosive barrels along the area to help you deal with the Drones. Next, a Stump will appear with a Bastion. After you defeat the enemies, a cutscene will trigger, then you will get on the Minotaur.

Now you must defend the truck while Fahz drives. After the team advances some ground, the Flock will take down a column, consequently blocking your path. Get out of the truck and defend yourself against the Swarm. The Juvies will engage first, then Drones and Hunters. Be careful with the Torque Bows. After you deal with this wave of enemies, a Carrier and a Flock will appear. Grab the attention of the Carrier off the truck and kill the Flock first. Be careful not to get stuck on the area as the Carrier grabs you and kills you immediately. After you kill the enemies, get to the truck.

Once again, fend off the Swarm from the truck. A Swarmak will appear and the truck will stop. Deal some damage on the Swarmak and a cutscene will trigger. After that, the Kraken will follow you a little as you escape. Kill some Drones along the way. A couple of Bastions will follow you; destroy them while the truck heads to the Cog wall. Once you reach it, Marcus will tell you to get out to defend the truck. Don't do it; stay on the truck as you can replenish your grenades and ammo, but be careful as you don't have cover. Kill the Drones and the Scion. Some Guardians will join the fight to help you. After that, get out of the truck and climb the ladder to reach the top of the gate.

Final boss fight: Kraken

Strategy: As soon as you reach the top of the gate, get to the turrets and destroy the Flocks. There will be about three. After you kill them, the Kraken will appear. As he opens his mouth and the tongues come out, aim on its glowing parts. When you destroy about 10 tongues, go to the railgun and shoot his fangs. Next, he will try to suck you in; just fire on the tonsils on his mouth. Repeat the process of destroying the tongues, then go to the railgun again. After you destroy two of his fangs, he will start to bite. Dodge his attacks, as his bites are instakill.

After the boss fight, a cutscene will trigger to end the chapter.
