Learn how to explore the monastery in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, manage units via the journal, and find lost items. Available Sundays.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
On Sundays, choose to explore the Monastery. This is often your only option early in the story. It is ideal to explore on the first free day of each month.
  2. 2
As you advance through the story, more areas of the Monastery will unlock. This also applies in New Game Plus (NG+), with some exceptions.
  3. 3
During exploration, you control your protagonist and can walk around to speak with characters.
  4. 4
Some characters offer dialogue choices. Answering correctly can increase your support with them.
  5. 5
You can give characters gifts, which can be bought or obtained via quests.
  6. 6
Characters remain in the same location throughout the entire month.
  7. 7
You can perform various activities, but these consume Activity Points.
  8. 8
Activity Points are gained automatically at the start of each exploration session. The amount depends on your Professor Rank, which can be increased by performing activities.
  9. 9
Some activities, like fishing or gardening, do not require Activity Points.
  10. 10
Quests can be obtained from characters or NPCs. These can be completed during exploration or through battles. Some quests are locked to the current month.
  11. 11
Quest rewards can include gifts, gold, ore, ingredients, bait, tea leaves, and Renown.
  12. 12
Shops are available for use during both exploration and battles.
  13. 13
Exploration is the primary way to increase unit motivation and the protagonist's skills through Faculty Training.
  14. 14
Look for blue sparkling objects in certain locations. These can be quest items, lost items, or miscellaneous items like Tea Leaves, bait, ingredients, or Owl Feathers.
  15. 15
Lost items and quest items have fixed positions each month. Miscellaneous items have randomized spawn locations that change when you first open exploration for the month. Red dots on the map indicate spawn points for these items.

The Journal:

The Journal can be accessed during exploration and on the calendar screen. It allows you to manage your units and gameplay.

  • Goals: Set goals for units in your house.
  • Roster: View detailed information for all units in your house, including stats, skills, and personal info.
  • Inventory: Check battle-related items (weapons, equipment, consumables) held by units or in the convoy (storage for unequipped items). You can also set up to 5 learned abilities per unit (excluding class or personal abilities) and 3 learned Combat Arts (excluding unique or personal Combat Arts). Units can also Reclass into classes they have certified for.
  • Support: View support ranks between characters. Support conversations become available when a rank threshold is met (e.g., C Support). These conversations must be selected from the Journal to increase support further. Some support conversations are time-sensitive; for example, C Supports between the protagonist and other characters must be initiated in Part 1 or they will remain locked below C rank. Some conversations may become entirely unavailable.
  • Quests: View information and progress for active quests.
  • Storehouse: View items not in your inventory, such as gifts, lost items, ingredients, meat, fish, bait, tea, ore, and seeds.
  • Other standard options include Save, Options, Guide (tutorial information), and Calendar.
Tips
  • It's best to explore on the first free day of each month to maximize your time.
  • Pay attention to dialogue choices when speaking with characters to increase support.
  • Thoroughly check all areas during exploration for sparkling blue objects, as they can contain valuable items.
  • Utilize the Journal to manage your units effectively, set abilities, and track support progress.
  • Be mindful of the time-sensitive nature of some support conversations, especially C Supports in Part 1.
