During explore mode, you are given Activity points, ranging from 1 to 10 depending on your professor rank. Various activities grant experience, which increases your professor rank. A higher professor rank allows you to do more during each explore session. Almost all activities, except fishing and gardening, require 1 activity point.
This section details each activity and explains how they primarily help you throughout your playthroughs.
Sharing meals
Sharing meals is unlocked almost immediately and is the most important activity, likely consuming the most activity points regardless of playthrough. Be cautious with this in Maddening difficulty.
To share a meal, approach the cafeteria staff and choose either the full menu or Today's special. The full menu requires your own ingredients, while the special requires none. When you hover over a dish's name, portraits of characters who like that dish will appear below, indicating they will gain more support and motivation from eating it.
After choosing a dish, select two characters to eat with you. Blue arrows indicate they like the dish, red indicates they hate it, and no arrow means they are neutral. All three participants gain support and motivation, with the amount depending on whether they like the dish and if any events are active, such as the Hunting Festival, which increases the effect of meat dishes.
Units only gain motivation if they are in your house, but you can invite characters not in your house to gain support with them, as well as with those in your house.
Completing this activity grants professor rank experience.
