You have 3 days and 12 hours (48 hours total) for Free Time 1 in Chapter 3. Several new events are available, but you won't be able to complete them all. Upon arriving at the Main Gate, a person with a question mark will explain Datalink, but this can be ignored for now. Head to Central Command to speak with Kurasame, who will provide information on Triad Maneuver and Eidolons.
Triad Maneuver is an attack that consumes the entire AG bar to unleash devastating combos from all party members, similar to the Trinity Attack in Kingdom Hearts. While each character has unique animations, it's not the most efficient way to deal damage.
Eidolon summoning requires sacrificing a selected character, increasing your casualties on the Report Card. However, they are necessary for certain later Special Orders (S.O.). Eidolons can be summoned in missions where an S Rank is not required, or in random encounters and optional dungeons, as they do not affect the Report Card. Be aware that using Eidolons permanently records your casualties in the Rubicus.
After leaving Central Command, Moglin will inform you about Expert Trials.
Expert Trials are similar to optional missions. On a first playthrough, they will be higher level than your current party. Expert Trials are generally designed for a second playthrough but can be attempted if your characters are sufficiently trained. Each Expert Trial requires 6 hours to leave Akademeia and another 6 hours upon completion. They cannot be cancelled midway; if you wish to stop, you must reload your save.
To undertake an Expert Trial, go to the Main Gate and speak with the person opposite the Logistic Officer.
