How to Beat The Leviathan (Kylong Plains)

The Leviathan is a massive, ancient sea serpent found in the Kylong Plains, often encountered as part of the Kunark Ascending questline or as a public quest boss. This encounter requires a well-coordinated group due to its high damage output and environmental hazards.

Phases & Mechanics:

1. Phase 1: Surface Engagement: The Leviathan will initially engage from the water, using powerful AoE (Area of Effect) attacks and a frontal cone breath weapon. Tanks need to position the Leviathan facing away from the group. DPS should focus on its head, while healers keep the group topped off from the constant AoE.
2. Phase 2: Submerge & Summon: At around 75% health, the Leviathan will submerge, summoning several 'Leviathan Hatchlings' and 'Deep Sea Elementals'. These adds must be quickly dispatched by DPS, as they can overwhelm the healers. Off-tanks may be needed to pick up the adds.
3. Phase 3: Geyser Eruptions: When the Leviathan resurfaces (around 50% health), the area will become riddled with geysers that periodically erupt, dealing significant damage and knocking players back. Players must constantly move to avoid standing in the geyser zones, which are typically indicated by visual cues on the ground.
4. Phase 4: Enrage & Final Stand: Below 25% health, the Leviathan will 'enrage', increasing its attack speed and damage. This is a DPS race. Healers must use all available cooldowns, and tanks need to maintain aggro while mitigating heavy incoming damage.

Key Weaknesses:

• Elemental Damage: The Leviathan is slightly vulnerable to cold and magic damage.
• Stuns/Interrupts: While not a primary mechanic, interrupting some of its larger AoE casts can reduce incoming damage.

Rewards:

Upon defeat, The Leviathan drops several pieces of legendary (purple) quality gear, often including weapons, armor, and accessories suitable for characters around level 100. It also grants a significant amount of experience and faction reputation with the local Kunark factions.
