Mementos are collectible written notes found throughout the world of Dying Light 2 Stay Human. As of March 9, 2026, there are 209 mementos in total, with 117 in the base game, 14 added in Chapter 2, 32 from the Bloody Ties DLC, 7 from The Walking Dead event (discontinued July 2024), 6 from the Firearms Update (2024), and 33 from patch 1.27 (2026). While most are found through exploration, some are now locked behind meta-game mechanics, RNG, or purchases.

The Bloody Ties DLC includes 32 mementos and 4 tapes, with 36 total collectibles required for the 'Connoisseur' achievement. The base game's 'Archivist' achievement requires collecting all 117 original notes, some of which are missable and tied to story choices.

Recent updates have introduced new ways to obtain mementos:

• Patch 1.27 (2026): Added 33 mementos. 10 were obtainable from enemy loot in outbreak zones, and 4 were community rewards tied to global kill milestones during the Infected Outbreak event (February 12 - March 9, 2026). The Black Hand bundle requires purchasing an outfit and grinding for drops to acquire its 10 mementos.
• Year of the Horse event (Lunar New Year 2026): This event (February 17-24, 2026) featured enemy-dropped 'red envelopes' lootboxes containing 9 event mementos, often with RNG-based rewards.
• The Walking Dead event (2023): Comic-cover items were event rewards in July-August 2023 and were later purchasable via Pilgrim Outpost until July 2024.

Players have documented tactics for farming outbreak spawns and have expressed concerns regarding paywalled, time-limited, or RNG-dependent access to certain collectibles.
