Part 1

Part 1 of the Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny guide covers experience and mana gain, detailing how the system differs from previous titles and listing stage bonuses.

This guide provides information for Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny, aiming to fill the gap in available resources. The author, experienced with previous Disgaea titles, will highlight differences in Disgaea 6 and strive for accuracy using in-game names. Information is based on version 1.0.5 on the Nintendo Switch.

Experience and Mana Gain:

Disgaea 6 features significantly larger stats, with level 1 characters starting in the thousands. Enemies in stage 1-1 are level 1, while those in 1-2 are level 50, indicating the game's focus on high numbers. Unlike previous titles where characters gained Exp and Mana for the killing blow, Disgaea 6 pools all Exp and Mana from defeated enemies on a stage and distributes it equally among all participating characters. This system may take some adjustment for veterans.

Stage bonuses are awarded for various character actions, contributing to Exp and Mana gain:

  • Exp 10%: Kill the most enemies
  • Exp 20%: Highest damage dealt
  • Exp 30%: Most throws (items or characters)
  • Exp 50%: Supported the most skills
  • Exp 70%: Most heals (passive abilities do not count)
  • Exp 100%: Second character defeated
  • Mana 10%: Moved the most squares
  • Mana 20%: Most defends
  • Mana 25%: Took out the most chests
  • Mana 40%: Destroyed the most objects (crates/geo symbols)

Claiming D-Merit rewards on a character's status screen when they fill a class level (star) is crucial, as it permanently increases their Exp gain. Higher class levels grant stacking Exp % bonuses.

Testing indicates that using one full stack of Statisticians provides the same Exp gain as four full stacks. Therefore, only one full stack of a non-stat Innocent type is recommended per character.

Adjusting the star level in the Cheat Shop affects more than just enemy levels. For instance, an enemy that hits max level at star level 8 (e.g., 13-5 Rakshasa difficulty) will yield the same Exp at star level 20, but with higher enemy stats at level 20 compared to level 8. Beating the God of Destruction in 9-5 yields the same Exp as on other difficulties.

Part 2

Learn the best stages for Experience (EXP) gain and how class matters for leveling in Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny. Discover Evilty mechanics.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Stage 13-5 and 14-5 offer similar EXP gain, but 14-5 provides approximately 50% more EXP. The source notes this bonus without identifying its origin.
  2. 2
When mass leveling characters, consider if you want to optimize your Witch’s Evilties (skills that enhance abilities) for stage 14-5 or if running through other levels multiple times is faster, especially if you can achieve one-hit-kills on those other levels without needing to manage SP recovery.
  3. 3
Certain character classes have slightly different rates of EXP gain. This difference might be in the amount of EXP received or how much EXP is required for them to level up. This data was collected during mass leveling and reincarnating in the Postlude part of the game, with all characters receiving the same base EXP without battle awards.
  4. 4
The EXP gain difference is simplified into five categories: +0 (slowest) to +4 (fastest).

Class EXP Gain Tiers:

  • +0: Mecha Girl
  • +1: Archer, Magic Knight, Armor Knight, Gunner, Ninja, Samurai, Psychic, Evil Eye, Dragon, Pincer Shell, Horseman
  • +2: Zed, Misedor, Melodia, Piyori, Majolene, Ivar, Beiko, Laharl, Etna, Flonne, Martial Artist, Warrior, Succubus, Undead
  • +3: Prinny, Sea Angel, Cleric, Winged Warrior
  • +4: Thief

The Witch class was used for testing and earned a +20% EXP bonus from an award. Based on this, the Witch class is estimated to belong in either the +1 or +2 group.

Weapons:

Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny features standard weapon types. Monster classes can equip non-monster weapons. Characters earn Weapon Exp (weapon mastery) by using specific weapon types.

  • Fist
  • Sword
  • Spear
  • Bow
  • Gun
  • Axe
  • Staff
  • Armor (earned by defending in battle)

Evilties:

Evilties are skills that enhance character abilities. Each character has a unique Evilty tied to their class, plus others that can be changed. The 'Common' category starts at 0/5 slots, with the maximum growing with character level and classes mastered. When a character Super Reincarnates, they retain the maximum Evilty slots they previously achieved.

Maximum Evilty Points by Level:

  • Level 1: 5
  • Level 50: 6
  • Level 100: 7
  • Level 300: 8
  • Level 1,100: 9
  • Level 2,000: 10
  • Level 5,000: 11
  • Level 9,000: 12

Maximum Evilty Points via D-Merits:

  • Master 2 classes: 13
  • Master 3 classes: 14
  • Master 5 classes: 15
  • Master 7 classes: 16
  • Master 10 classes: 17
  • Master 13 classes: 18
  • Master 15 classes: 19
  • Master 17 classes: 20
  • Master 20 classes: 21
  • Master all (22) classes: 22

The Succubus class has a unique Evilty that decreases stats of adjacent male enemy units by -20%. The sex of certain classes is indicated where not obvious.

Characters can spend Mana (in-game currency) at the Skill Shop to learn Evilties. New Evilties become available as a character gains class proficiency (star level). Reaching benchmark levels allows characters to claim D-Merits that grant access to more Evilties in the Skill Shop. Completing quests can reward scrolls that can be used to learn Evilties, which can then be replicated at the Skill Shop by creating a scroll.

Reincarnation also grants Evilties randomly from a large list. To maximize this, it is recommended to:

  1. Place a character in the Ability Squad (after increasing the squad’s level) to gain additional Evilties upon reincarnation.
  2. Create scrolls of these unique Evilties so they can be learned by other characters who reincarnate. If a character has all possible Evilties, they will gain Extracts (for the Juice Bar) instead.

Unlike previous games, skills are not learned through weapon mastery.
  3. 3

  • Proficiency Levels 61-80: Range Boost 8
  • Proficiency Levels 81-90: Range Boost 9
  • Proficiency Levels 91-99: Range Boost 10

Weapon Stat Influence:

  • A character's equipped weapon can change which stat their skills use.
  • For example, Zed's Thunder Rush skill uses ATK/SPD with a fist but INT with a staff.
  • Only elemental magic skills (Fire/Wind/Ice/Star) and healing skills are unaffected by weapon choice.
  • Consider a character's stat distribution and weapon compatibility when choosing equipment.

Skill Notation Key:

  • Target: One (T1), Two (T2), Three (T3), Random (TR)
  • Shape: Horizontal (H), Line (L), Plus-shaped (+), Square (S), Diamond (D), W-shaped (W), V-shaped (V)
  • Range: Fixed (RF), Adjustable (RA)
  • Element: Fire/Wind/Ice/Star (F/W/I/S)
  • Status Ailment: Poison (Po), Sleep (Sl), Paralyze (Py), Amnesia (A), Weakness (W), Charm (C)
  • Note: Special notes (N-[text])

Example Skill Descriptions:

  • Zed - Thunder Rush = T1 RF1 (W) N-knockback effect (1 Target, Fixed Range of 1, Wind element, special Note)
  • Zed - Voltaic Shoot = T3H RA2 (W) (3 Targets-Horizontal, Adjustable Range of 2, Wind element)
  • Prinny - Prinny Barrage = T1 RF3 (1 Target, Fixed Range at 3)
  • Psychic - Teleport Terror = T4+ RA5 N-knockback effect, character moves to center of + which must be empty (4 Targets-+ shaped, Adjustable Range of 5, special Note)

Healing and elemental spells are listed as: T1* RA1* (F/W/I/S) due to their variable range and shapes gained with use.

Tips
  • Pay attention to how weapon types alter skill stat usage to maximize damage output.
  • For characters like Melodia, consider changing their class if their starting class and stats don't align well with their potential (e.g., changing her from Clergy to Archer).
  • Piyori, who starts with a sword and Martial Artist class, was changed to Samurai due to her slight advantage with swords.

Part 4

Explore the diverse classes and unique skills available in Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny. Learn about Warrior, Martial Artist, Clergy, Witch, Thief, Archer, and Gunner classes.

This section details the various classes available in Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny, their unlocked methods, and the skills they possess. It also clarifies the distinction between humanoid and monster classes and provides a general weapon compatibility chart.

In Disgaea 6, the traditional separation between 'humanoid' and 'monster' classes is less pronounced. All characters can perform actions like lifting and throwing, and there are no monster-exclusive weapons. The primary visual cue to differentiate them is that humanoid characters display their equipped weapons in battle, while monster characters maintain a consistent appearance regardless of their gear.

Weapon compatibility is rated from E (low) to S (high) across Fist, Sword, Spear, Bow, Gun, Axe, and Staff types. This compatibility can vary between different ranks and subclasses within a class.
