What Are Elder Rifts?

Elder Rifts are a crucial endgame activity in Diablo Immortal, primarily serving as a method to farm Legendary Gems. These gems are vital for character progression, with 5-Star Legendary Gems being particularly rare and essential for upgrading other gems. Understanding how to access and effectively run Elder Rifts is key to long-term success.

How to Start Elder Rifts:

You can find the Elder Rift Entrance in Westmarch, an odd device on a raised platform. To unlock access, you must progress the main questline until after the [Mad King's Breach] dungeon and encountering Lethes. Following this, complete the Westmarch main quest objectives "Legends of Eld" and "Braving the Rift." The latter will serve as a tutorial for your first Elder Rift.

Accessing an Elder Rift requires empowering it with Crests. While Jondo Mouren, the Crest Merchant, provides initial Crests for the tutorial, obtaining more requires effort.

Elder Rift Crests:

Crests are necessary to open the Elder Rift portal and come in two types: Rare and Legendary. Both types add modifiers to the rift, influencing gameplay. Legendary Crests add more modifiers than Rare Crests. These modifiers can be positive or negative, increasing the rift's difficulty but also enhancing the chance of obtaining Legendary Gems. Using Legendary Crests is the only way to acquire 5-Star Legendary Gems. While they can be found as rare drops, purchasing them with premium currency is heavily incentivized for competitive play.

How to Complete an Elder Rift:

Upon entering an Elder Rift, your objective is to kill enemies rapidly to fill a "Rift Progress" meter. Filling this meter spawns the Rift Guardian, a boss that must be defeated to complete the rift. The faster the meter is filled, the better the rewards. Focus on groups of enemies and unique foes, as they drop "Rift Progress Orbs" that fill the meter significantly faster than regular enemies.

After defeating the Rift Guardian, you have 5 minutes to finish any remaining tasks before the rift closes. A Blacksmith will also appear after the Rift Guardian is defeated, allowing you to manage your inventory.
