You’ll find Jondo Mouren, the Crest Merchant, in Westmarch, standing near the raised platform that holds the entrances to Elder Rifts and Challenge Rifts. To reach Westmarch, progress the main questline until you encounter Lethes after the [Mad King’s Breach] dungeon. Afterward, you must complete the main quest objectives “Legends of Eld” and “Braving the Rift”. The former introduces you to the Crest Merchant, who will provide your first few Crests, including a Legendary Crest. The latter takes you into your first Elder Rift, serving as a tutorial and ultimately granting you your first Legendary Gem.

What Are Elder Rift Crests?

The Crest Merchant primarily sells Legendary Crests, which can only be purchased with Eternal Orbs. While Legendary Crests can be found as drops or rewards, purchasing them with the game’s premium currency is heavily incentivized for acquiring Legendary Gems, especially 5-Star ones. Using Crests to empower an Elder Rift portal affects gameplay inside and influences rewards. Rare Crests, Legendary Crests, and Eternal Legendary Crests offer different benefits.

• Empowering an Elder Rift without a Crest guarantees only Fading Essences, which can be traded for FA runes to craft random Legendary Gems. This process is very time-consuming.
• Rare Crests increase your chances of obtaining rare and legendary gear, provide a 5% chance for a Legendary Gem, and guarantee Runes along with Fading Essences. You can earn Rare Crests daily from the Elder Rift Entrance or by ranking up your Battle Pass.
• Legendary Crests include all benefits of Rare Crests, plus they guarantee a Legendary Gem drop. The drop chances are approximately: 75% for a 1-Star Legendary Gem, 20% for a 2-Star Legendary Gem, and 4.5% for a 5-Star Legendary Gem. The quality of a 5-Star Legendary Gem can range from 2-Star to 5-Star, with a 5/5-Star Legendary Gem being exceptionally rare and costly. You receive one Legendary Crest during the Elder Rift tutorial and can earn more from the Battle Pass or by purchasing one monthly from the Hilts Trader.
• Eternal Legendary Crests are identical to Legendary Crests but can only be bought with Eternal Orbs from the Crest Merchant. The key difference is that Eternal Legendary Crests can be traded on the Market, unlike Legendary Gems obtained through normal Legendary Crests.

Spending Eternal Orbs at the Crest Merchant is the only way to obtain Eternal Legendary Crests.
