Welcome to Blackreef, an island stuck in a perpetual time loop. You play as Colt, an assassin tasked with breaking this cycle by eliminating eight key targets, known as Visionaries, within a single day. Deathloop blends immersive sim elements with a unique assassination puzzle, forcing you to learn enemy patterns, environmental layouts, and the island's secrets across multiple loops. It's a stylish, challenging shooter that rewards observation and experimentation.
This guide is your key to mastering the loop. We'll walk you through every Visionary Lead and Arsenal Lead, ensuring you can track down and eliminate targets like Harriet, Charlie Montague, Fia, and Egor. We'll also cover collectible locations and provide strategies to help you conquer the island and finally break the loop.
Basics
Learn the core mechanics of Deathloop, including the time loop, the Eternalists, Julianna's role, and beginner tips for survival and progression on Blackreef.
Welcome to the Loop
Deathloop is a game where you play as Colt Vahn, the head of security for the Isle of Blackreef. You don't remember anything, but you're stuck in a time loop. This time loop has been intentionally created, by the leaders of the island (aka the Visionaries) as part of the AEON Program.
When the time loop resets each 'day', nobody remembers the previous 'day' or loop. Only you and a woman named Julianna remember. So, everyone else on this island is here to party endlessly, with no consequence. This is their eternity, which makes them the Eternalists.
Colt is just trying to remember why he's on the island, until he decides he needs to break the loop to escape. Julianna doesn't want you to break the loop, and she'll continue to hunt you down to stop you. She can disguise herself as anyone (including Colt) to do so. Julianna is controlled by either the AI in-game, or another player (you'll be able to play as Julianna yourself soon enough). She can also attack you multiple times in a single day/loop.
To break the loop, your goal is to kill the eight Visionaries. You'll come to know them throughout the game.
Beginner Tips
If you're just starting out, take things slow. Learn the controls, read the tutorials, and when you find an enemy or group of enemies, feel free to take your time, learning their patterns. Every day is the same here, so if you learn to efficiently clear an area, you'll know how to do it forever.
The only wild card is Julianna, but don't worry about her right now. You'll learn that later.
Every death is a learning opportunity. You'll know what _not_ to do. You'll learn what works, and what doesn't. So feel free to experiment!
Eternalists are stupid. If they see you, and you hide, they'll forget about you soon enough. You just have to be _hidden_ well enough. Oftentimes closing a door or window will work, cutting off their line of sight.
Inspect everything. Books, notes, computer logs, and audio recordings all contain vital information you need to progress through the game. So, if you're in an area and you see one of these things, take the time to inspect it. Even if you don't actually read it yourself, it'll trigger knowledge in-game you need.
This Guide Is...
There are so many different ways to play this game. You can stealth, use guns, or use abilities, or a combination of the three. So, I won't be providing a _exact_ how-to guide for each and every little thing. You have your own intelligence and your Quest Marker for that. You don't need me to tell you how to walk down the street, so I won't waste your time doing so.
This guide is meant to answer specific questions and provide a battle plan for the most important quest: Killing the Visionaries.
I _will_ provide maps for each location, including a breakdown of how many enemies are patrolling each area.
I will also include info for Trinkets, Weapons, and Trophies/Achievements.
But most importantly, I've included an outline for taking down the Visionaries.
Everything else? Well, Blackreef is your playground. Get out there and play! There are lots of fun secrets to find, and lots of things to do and explore.
When In Doubt, Follow Your Quest Marker
Your Quest Marker will guide you to where you need to go. This game is about exploration and playing your way. So explore! You're never that far from your last save, so feel free to play things loose and risky. It's better to learn early!
