Step 1: Speak with Elder Kael

Ball x Pit: Find and speak with Elder Kael in the Pit Hub to learn about the Glimmering Shard and gain your first Essence Point.

Upon entering the Pit Hub for the first time, locate Elder Kael. He is typically found near the central bonfire, identifiable by his long, flowing white beard and ornate staff. Approach him and initiate dialogue. He will explain the current plight of the Pit Dwellers and task you with retrieving the Glimmering Shard from the Sunken Grotto. This conversation will also unlock your first 'Essence Point', which you should immediately spend at the Skill Trainer to enhance your primary attack or increase your health. Listen carefully to his exposition, as it provides crucial lore and context for your journey. He will also provide you with a basic 'Pit Map' for the Upper Reaches.
