Once you're on the beach, climb the cliff face. Work your way up and around the corner until you reach the next area. Keep going along the cliff edge, and then drop down onto a boat. A cutscene will trigger here.

After the scene, you'll need to chase down your target. This is where things get tricky: you've got to stay within 40 meters of him the whole time if you want to snag those optional objectives. Plus, you'll need to pull off three running assassinations.

So, after the cutscene, slide down the ship and head towards the far end, then veer right. Keep following the path until you're back in an enclosed area. Here, you'll need to perform a run assassination (that's 1/3 for the optional objective) on the guard. Then, duck under the debris to your left.

Next, swing across the beams, and then hop across the objects in the water until you reach another shipwreck.

As you get to this shipwreck, perform another run assassination (2/3) on the musketman. Keep going straight ahead and slide under the debris in front of you.

When the passage collapses ahead, climb the wall. Keep moving forward, hopping across the beams until you reach solid ground again. You'll see two enemies here; run assassinate one of them (3/3) to complete the optional objective.

Keep running up the sloped path in front of you. At the top, hop across to the beams and follow the path through the masts. The beam you land on will snap.

After this, keep climbing to the very top of the mast. From there, slide down the ship deck. As you reach the bottom, your target should run below you and flash white for a moment. Quickly hit the attack button to air assassinate him before he can get into the cave.

Warning: If you miss this air assassination, you'll fail the optional objective to kill him before he enters the cave, but you can still finish the mission. You'll have to follow him into the cave and fight him along with a group of guards.

Either way, once the target is dealt with, a cutscene will play, and the mission will be complete.

Tips

Staying within that 40-meter range is key for the optional objectives. Keep an eye on your mini-map and don't let him get too far ahead.
The running assassinations can be a bit tricky to time, especially when you're also trying to avoid obstacles. Take your time and line them up as best you can.
