Hey there, survivor! Ready to get stronger in ARK? Let's talk about leveling up and unlocking those awesome Engrams. It's how you and your dinos get tougher and learn new things. ### Max Levels First off, know your limits. As of June 2022, the max player level is 190. You start at level 1, and you'll gain levels through normal play, defeating bosses (that's 60 levels!), finding all the Explorer Notes across every map (another 10), and even from collecting Chibi pets (5 levels). If you're on Fjordur, collecting all the runes there nets you 10 more. Once you hit the cap, that's it for leveling up! For ARK Mobile, it's a bit simpler: the max player level is 100, and you don't need to beat bosses to get there. Your creatures can level up 88 times. After that, they're as strong as they can get through leveling. Now, for the wild dinos you're hunting or taming: wild creatures cap at level 150, and wild Tek creatures at 180. Once tamed, they can reach level 224 and 269, respectively. On official servers, there's a hard cap of level 450 for most creatures. However, some special ones like R-Creatures, X-Creatures, and the Dinopithecus from Lost Island are exceptions, capping at 500. Be careful: creatures at or above their hard-cap might disappear when the server resets unless they're in a cryopod. And if they're cryopodded beyond their cap, they might even fail to come out! ### Levelling Methods There are a few main ways to gain experience (XP) in ARK: * Harvesting: Just picking things up by hand gives very little XP. Using better tools helps a bit more. * Crafting: This is a solid way to level up, especially if you're making complex items or building structures. The more resources an Engram requires, the more XP you get. It's a more peaceful method than hunting, but gathering all those materials can get repetitive. * Hunting: Killing creatures is a big source of XP. The amount you get depends on the creature. From harmless Dodos and Coels to terrifying Titanosaurs and Gigas, the tougher and higher-level the creature, the more XP you'll earn. * Explorer Notes: Keep an eye out for these! They can be in ruins, hard-to-reach spots, or just lying around. They give you a significant chunk of XP and also provide a temporary boost to your XP gain. A 2x and a 4x boost note can stack for an 8x XP gain! Remember, collecting the same type of note again won't stack the boost; it'll just extend the duration. Grab these before you do any major leveling activities! * Tribe Work: If you're in a tribe, you get bonus XP just for being near tribemates who are also earning XP. It's a nice little boost for sticking together.
