Guide to Xenoblade Chronicles 2's final chapter, including walkthrough steps, boss fight strategies against party members and Artifice Aion, and tips for the ultimate conclusion.
To begin the final chapter, proceed through the central gate and ascend the elevator. Exit and climb the escalator, then pass through the security gate. Continue down the corridor at the end of the hall to reach Elysium. Your destination is a church visible in the distance. Descend the hill and cross the field, encountering interaction points that reveal character reactions. Upon reaching the church, descend the stairs to the very bottom.
At the lowest level, you will engage in a series of battles against members of your own party. They will possess their current stats and levels, using only their primary Blades (Nia with Dromarch, Mòrag with Brighid, Zeke with Pandoria, and Tora with Poppi α). Pyra will be disengaged and replaced by Roc if he is not already engaged; otherwise, another of Rex's Blades will be used. It is highly recommended to equip at least one Healing Blade to sustain your health, and a Blade with an Agility Modifier to make Rex harder to hit. Many tank Blades offer arts that provide complete evasion or shields that block all attacks, heal, and recharge arts. Experiment with strategies, as mixing up your approach can yield surprising results. The fights will occur in sequence: Nia, then Mòrag, followed by Zeke and Tora simultaneously. Defeat them one by one.
After concluding your meeting with the Architect, proceed down the narrow corridor and take the elevator at its end. Exit through the door and continue down the corridor to enter a large hangar. Reach the end of the hangar to find a large hangar door requiring power. Nearby, a set of stairs leads upwards. Ascend these stairs and approach the hangar door. Interact with the console on the wall to operate the door, then descend and pass through the door. Proceed forward and take the elevator. Upstairs, climb the ramp to find a final console. This is your point of no return. Interacting with this console will save your game, after which no further saves will be possible until after the final boss and credits. The final boss awaits beyond these doors. Upon defeating it, you can save after the credits roll. This save file will be marked with a medal, and you will be returned to the point just before the final boss, allowing you to complete any remaining tasks in Alrest. When ready, interact with the console.
Welcome to your final battle against Artifice Aion. This boss has a substantial health pool, potentially leading to a lengthy engagement. If you are defeated at any point, you will be returned to the title screen and must restart the entire fight. Aion can nullify your healing abilities, making survival difficult as this effect cannot be dispelled. Ensure your own health remains high, especially if relying on AI for healing. Aion also seals your Blades, though this is less critical than the healing nullification. This can be countered by using a Blade Combo ending in Ice.
The most effective strategy involves building Blade Combo orbs and unleashing Chain Attacks. Around 90% HP, Aion may retreat and summon an Artifice Colossus. Prioritize defeating the Colossus quickly, as Aion will return within firing range shortly thereafter, and you do not want to face both simultaneously. At approximately 75% HP, the fight transitions to a second phase via a cutscene, with your progress on Blade Combo orbs reset but your party gauge full. Aion will initiate with Siren Buster, a powerful attack that can incapacitate or severely damage your party. Ensure your weapons are unsheathed to mitigate heavy damage. Continue attacking Aion's HP. At around 50% and 25% HP, Aion will summon two Artifice Colossi. You can preempt this by finishing a Blade Combo with Dark just before Aion reaches these HP thresholds, which will seal all reinforcements. Continue building Blade Combos and unleash a Chain Attack when Aion's health is low or when it prepares a devastating attack.
Congratulations on defeating Xenoblade Chronicles 2! The final cutscene is lengthy; you may choose to skip it to save immediately and view it later in the Events Theater on the title screen.
